Y'know those shows you really get into, and then they get cancelled before the first season has even aired? Yeah. Sadly, this is one of them.

But... for only one season (13 episodes), this show is quite satisfying. It's just unfortunate the story won't continue. DG was likely too expensive to continue producing without the ratings to justify the production costs, but potential future seasons of a great show have been lost.

Still, this is worthwhile entertainment. Well written, well-acted, great chemistry between characters and an awe-inspiring season arch. You won't regret any investment in this show.

Like the other reviewers, I saw Defying Gravity on DVD after it had been broadcast. Previous to seeing the DVD's on sale, I had never heard of this show which was a shame. This is the type of television that I enjoy viewing: thoughtful, well written, likable but flawed characters, and great potential for story development. It was very unfortunate that by the time it was properly viewed, it was cancelled. I read an interview with James Parriot where he discussed his ideas for season 2 and story thread that would carry to the end of the series. The whole project had alot of potential. If he never has the chance to have movie to rap up the story, at least write a novel so we can find out how the story ends.

I very much enjoyed this series and could not believe it was dumped right in the middle of an excellent set up for more stories. the Aw Come on! is for the people who dumped the series. This is a science fiction tale of astronauts in training and the same astronauts heading to various planets in the solar system. They have a secret. There is a mysterious orb on board and they are actually going to get more. Each character has a weakness and a strength and these traits are fleshed out in the back and forth telling of the training and the actual mission. There are some excellent plots and subplots and love stories as well as disappointments and successes. After watching the series twice I figured out what may have happened next. I sure wish the series had been continued.

The construction of this TV show is so brilliant with reflexions on human behavior at the beginning of each episode and how common people can relate to those reflexions.
Also how each caracter comprehend and react to situations is revealing of how we percieve events differently from one individual to another.
It is an excellent show, well produced and as with almost every good sci-fi show, poorly promoted and advertised!
Keep DG alive!
We want Season 2

A pleasant surprise! Didn't see it when it aired but saw it recently on dvd and was mightily impressed. Superiour production values and top notch acting in a surprisingly thoughtful near future saga.
