Degrassi Rocks!,

This review is from: Degrassi High--Complete Series (DVD)
I've been a fan of Degrassi since i was little. (yes a very long time ago). I guess with some people you either love the show or hate it. If your a fan, then this collection is what you need. Along with all the episodes from the series, you even get Schools Out with is the last episode of all the characters from Degrassi High and Degrassi Junior High. The only thing i would have liked is maybe getting an update of what the actors who played the characters are doing today. Oh well, still a must for fans of the show.

This review is from: Degrassi High--Complete Series (DVD)
I've always been a huge fan of Degrassi mainly because the series is like no other on television. The show has never been afraid to cover controversial topics. Degrassi High demonstrates that. In this Degrassi series one character gets an abortion and another is diagnosed with HIV. No other series dares take these chances. Degrassi covers real issues affecting teenagers from drugs to eating disorders and isn't afraid to do so. Every other series out there aimed at adolescents basically focuses on typical boy-girl relationships and friendships. Never do they cover the tough issues like Degrassi does.Another thing that I find refreshing about Degrassi is that the actresses aren't all fitting into size zero clothing and the actors aren't all built like athletes. Hollywood has sent the message that you need to be super thin to be beautiful but Degrassi has challenged that by picking actors that realistically represent the adolescent population. Degrassi: THe Next Generation doesn't really do this but the original series did and I'm glad to see that someone out there isn't sending teenagers the message to be happy with who they are. Congratulations to Degrassi for not being afraid to raise controversy and take television to new places. I only wish more series did that.

I love this series and what you see is exactly what you got on tv in the 80's with no special fix ups. Loved the product!
