Product Description

From Amazon.com

If you're looking for a change from the grim world of police procedurals inhabited by the likes of Lawrence Block's hard-bitten Matthew Scudder or Michael Connelly's cynical Harry Bosch, consider Inspector DeKok, a Dutch copper. Unlike his American counterparts, DeKok has a sunny disposition and a kindly nature. You won't find him beating information out of a suspect; he's more likely to make a polite request. In DeKok and Murder in Ecstasy, the courteous cop investigates a murder and robbery, managing to unravel the complex threads of the plot without ever loosing his customary cool or innate courtesy.

4.0 out of 5 stars Refreshing character, July 24 2009
By Srdjan Pesic - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Dekok and Murder in Ecstasy (Paperback)
As any slightly compulsive book colector does occasionally, I recently realised that although I possess 11 DeKok mysteries, I never read any. I corrected that oversight, and I am glad for it. Inspector DeKok is a refreshing character. He is not burned out, bitter man with an ax to grind, as you would expect. It is just the opposite. He still has excitement and good humor. The mystery itself is well written, without any extra padding to bulk up the lenght. I'll have to dig in and enjoy few more of this delightful books.
