Product Description

From School Library Journal

Grade 7-Up–Kernel is a teenager with an odd talent–he sees pieces of colored light floating in the air, and if he concentrates he can put them together like a jigsaw puzzle into a window shape. But everything goes horribly wrong when a demonic face jumps out of one of the windows and draws the boy into another dimension. When Kernel reappears in his own world, he doesnt quite remember all that happened, but figures out that his baby brother was also kidnapped by the demon. The family moves to a new town, but there is no escape from the horror that has entered their lives. Demon Thief follows Lord Loss (Little, Brown, 2005), the first volume in this grim and very gory series from the author of the Cirque du Freak books (Little, Brown). Readers who love the ghastly and demand a fast pace will be asking for more.–Walter Minkel, New York Public Library

Review

Praise for Lord Loss: "Utterly unputdownable" The Times "The master of children's horror at his blood-curdling best." Publishing News Praise for Darren Shan: Lord of the Shadows 'Stephen King for kids ! Darren Shan has brought his own brand of vampire mythology into the heads and hearts of thousands of children with his vivid and compelling series The Saga of Darren Shan, about one boy's journey from ordinary lad to vampire prince. Once they're hooked, kids tend to rip into the flesh of these books, quickly draining them of their life blood. The covers, with images of ghouls, creeping hands and dripping fangs are terrifying alone. ' Metro Life, Evening Standard Cirque Du Freak "!fast-paced and compelling book which leaves the reader hungry for more." JK Rowling "I read Cirque Du Freak last week. I loved it. I love the way you manage to juggle the funny with the unpleasant, the affection with the hurt. It's great story-telling." Roddy Doyle The Vampire's Assistant "The Vampire's Assistant blazes a thrilling, gruesome trail through a fascinating plot." The Good Book Guide Vampire Mountain "Get your teeth into it!" Funday Times

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book!, May 21 2006
By hozbogg - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Demon Thief (Hardcover)
This book, second in the Demonata series, was a great follow-up to the amazing thriller of the 1st book. It delivers action, adventure and thrills as Kernel Fleck, a young boy, delves into the horrifying world of demons and Desciples (Demon hunters) to destroy the demons who stole his brother. I find this book a fantastic edition to the already thrilling Darren Shan collection of books. Buy it! (A warning: I am a BIG horror movie fan and I almost threw up from the bloody description, so be careful =)

5.0 out of 5 stars Demonata #2: The Demon Thief, Jun 30 2006
By Lee T. Larsen - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Demon Thief (Hardcover)
After reading the first book in Shan's Demonata series I could not wait till the next book was released. I was not disappointed when the book came out. The second book seems to take place some time preceding the first book as one of the characters from the first book is "in training." However, according to the sneak peek of the third book the first narroator comes back to continue his story. The second book does have some gore and sickening discriptions; the narrator even vomits at one point but turns this into an advantace (I'll let you see how for yourself). Overall a very intersting read. Can't wait for the next book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Book, Jun 12 2006
By W14 - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Demon Thief (Hardcover)
I think that this book was really good and a lot better than the last one. This book takes place before the last book did, and is a lot more exiteing than the other book. In this story, a town where a boy named Kernal is living is visited by a murderous demon. This demon comes through a window opened from his own universe and quickly starts tearing apart the gathered townsfolk. When this demon lays eyes on Kernal's baby brother, something odd happens. The demon runs up, grabs the baby, and runs back through the window. Willing to die to get his brother back, Kernal runs through the window after the demon and ends up in a whole different universe full of strange things and aweful horrors. Kernal finds a group of out of the ordinary people, teams up with them, and attempts to find the demon and get his brother back. He has no idea what he is getting into, otherwise he would have gone right back through the window into his own world.
