Lot's of information and very expensive. I find it is more related to corporate instructional design which is okay, I am taking what I need and leaving the rest behind.

Not a very good textbook Nov. 16 2014
By Ghost of Hayek - Published on
Format: Paperback
I'm going to keep this brief, but I've read dense philosophical treatises that were more transparent in their meaning than the text here. The authors have a nice and helpful diagram and some concepts are from ed. psych and easily understood but a large amount of the text is spent trying to "intellectualize" and legitimize a fairly simple process or concept and it makes the reading dull (by contrast, the Driscoll text on Ed. Psych is great and comprehensible) and laborious work instead of something mildly interesting. Maybe this is the definitive text for instructional design but it could use a full-time editor's skilled hand.

Looseleaf Binder Edition is Great! Oct. 8 2013

I ordered this version of the text after first using the digital version on an iPad. This was a huge improvement. Having the ability to remove a section of the book and carry it with me is great. The pages are very thin. That's a problem if you're using a highlighter or a pen for making notes. The printing is small, the line-spacing is narrow, and the lines are long. Those issues make for difficult reading. I found the examples within the chapters to be far too technical -- to the point of losing the thought that was being explained.

confusing and dull Nov. 17 2013

I find this book not only designed poorly (tiny font, closely spaced, odd grammar and punctuation, etc) but also they have turned a rather interesting topic into one of the worst and overly confusing reads. I would suggest you search for another book, especially considering the cost. Not worth it in my opinion.
