... for Screen" by Georgina Shorter is quickly becoming my favorite books on production design April 7 2015

Format: Paperback
"Designing for Screen" by Georgina Shorter is quickly becoming my favorite books on production design. Being self taught in the world of film and production design (my education is based in furniture design and fabrication) I have read and own many books on Production Design and Art Direction in film, television, and theater. This is a straight forward book of information on how to properly DESIGN a film. Very often I find books on this topic to cover so many other elements from how to operate in film rather then how to design for it. They are all based on high budget productions which is useless for the years when you're start out, and they fill the empty space with history on the department on productions that anyone interested in the field would most likely already be educated on. They don't often include a simple direct outline for how to guide your creativity into a full fledge design. "Designing for the Screen" has done that and surpassed the other texts I have come across on the subject so far and I highly recommend it to anyone who is pursuing a career in Production Design or to other production designers like myself who's interests are geared toward continuous self improvement.
I chose not to finish reading this. I will Probly not pick it back up. March 18 2015

I wanted to like this because it's one of the only books on the market. It seems to be a strange hybrid of too dumbed down and too wordy. I think it's good in theory but the information I just don't feel is presented well.
