Great book with very detailed tabs. Already learned Bitter Metal Snake and Deththeme and working on some others.

The only complaint I had was the DVD. Not enough content. Brandon doesn't "hold your hand" through the Deththeme because he doesn't "have all the time in the world" to do it.... but since the DVD was a bonus, I guess it's a moot point.

First of all, this book is a beauty. Every page is interesting to look at (guitar tablature aside) as well as some cool included artwork.

the tabs are very well presented, and are easy to read (although, being able to play is a completely different story)

The DVD included, although minimal, is still neat, and hey, it's free, so who can complain?

I think the only complaint I have is that due to the thick cover, and thin pages, flipping through the book is slightly uncomfortable, as the back cover pops out, making it difficult to flip the pages.

But, aside from that, (which even then, it's really not that bad of a problem.) The Dethalbum tab book is very neat to look at, and a great tab book for any guitarist.

definitely recommended if you're a dethklok fan, and have some experience with a guitar.

Difficulty -
beginner - you should be able to play the occasional riff, however there will probably be many that's out of your skill range. (but hey, what would be better to practice with?)
Intermediate - you should be able to play the majority of the rhythm parts, as well as the simpler portions of solos.
Skilled - if you can sweep at a fairly decent speed, I don't see why you wouldn't be able to play any portion of this book.

There is no easy way to say this, but if you want to play like Skwisgaar you will have to hone your skills. This book is a note for note transciption that was obviously made by the people who work on the show. Unlike other tabs, you know that this is accurate simply because Skisgaar tells you on the first page. What seperates this tab book from others is the attention to detail for the fans. The artwork inside the book is as good as anything on the show with references from episodes painted on the inner jacket made to look like the walls of a men's bathroom. The first page of each song is decorated with art work from the show of the band members posing. This actually takes up the whole page. I can only guess that it was done to stop people from photocoping the sheet music, but in the book it is hardly distracting. In fact it is encouraging to stare at Nathan as he stares at you right back while trying to learn Murmaider. There is even a Introduction by Dick "Magic Ears" Knubbler giving his insight into the making of the album. The DVD that comes along with it was nice but would have been better with more content. Season 2 DVD contains the Skwisgaar leason in the "bonus" features already, so the only other thing is an actual video of Brendon showing how he actually plays the DethTheme. He doesn't take his time or "hold your hand" through it, but it is cool to see how he uses the Digitech Whammy pedal to affect the small amount of soloing he does in that song. So, the DVD is Okay, but the book is outstanding. Even if you don't play guitar but love the show, this is a real collector's piece for any fan. As a guitar player with many years under his belt, I am floored that Brendon Small is so talented of a musician that he employed his skills for a cartoon. He obviously knows what he is doing. Great book. And as Skisgaar says in the opening pages "Takes it slow at first, it will be less humiliatins dat way."

Brutal (in a good way) Feb. 11 2009
By Ryan - Published on Amazon.com
Totally brutal. 120 pages. Most tracks have at least 3-5 guitars going at once, so it can be overwhelming for solo guitar performances, but lots of work went into this. The intro is quite amusing, there are a few colored page spreads which probably add to the cost and there are background images scattered throughout the book.
The DVD is kind of weak, and has the Skwisgaar lesson from the season 1 dvd, and the Brendon Small Deththeme lesson that can easily be found on youtube.
All the tabs seem spot on, and if one is to compare the Thunderhorse transcription in the the book to the one from Guitar World, the book's version is in a different position and I personally find it easier to play.
All in all, easy to read, a lot of fun to play, and due to the multiple guitars that were tracked, can be broken into several skill levels. If you want to learn Dethklok songs, stick with this book, and avoid most of the lame free tabs that can be found on the internet.

Thunderhorse Feb. 9 2010
By Ryan Fischer - Published on Amazon.com
I bought this book and it is amazing the riffs are so easy but it sounds so Metal. It is a must have, even if your not a fan of the cartoon or the music parts, the lyrics will make you laugh on certain songs. And it has good metal and rock elements you can apply to your playing on a daily basis

this is a very good tab book. one of the best i've ever seen. it is very specific on when effects are used, what type, the denotation of things such as pinch harmonics. the dvd that came with it was not horribly helpful, but that doesn't matter because the book is so good. i would highly recommend this book and this company (alfred) for any guitarist, no matter what skill level.

Pretty good tabs April 9 2012

I'm going to take a guess and say Brendan Small had nothing to do with writing these tabs. Definitely a good starting point if you want to learn these songs but you'll have to correct them in a few spots in order to play as quickly as you need to.

better than dealing with guitarworld.com April 9 2010

This book is very accurate and fun. It is much easier to buy this tab book then try to request more dethklok on [...] whose site imo gives every appearance of being fake. [...] seems as if they use fake user names to attack user names they want to silence because the GW web site seems to be a big fake advertisement for the company using fake users to fool real readers. Right now the GW website appears as if they are using fake user names to pretend there is a demand for country, jazz, blues etc in the mag and have less metal tabs like dethklok in it. GW already has at least 3 repeats per issue and it is hard enough to get decent extreme metal tabs as it is wihtout wasting a tab on country or something. Anyway, this is an awesome book. So I would advise you to buy it becasue you are not going to see this type of thing in GW ever as they continue to waste the only one or two new tabs per issue on blues, jazz, or country and appear to be manipulating the user names of their website to fake out people who would rather see metal like this in the mag. So support the book, because stuff like this will show up less and less in GW.
