in this movie,a valuable painting has been stolen and a forgery put in its place.once again, the agents from U.N.A.C.O have been called in.but that's just part of the story.there's a lot more going on.by the way,you might want to watch the first "Detonator" AKA "Death Train" to get a bit of background on the agency and the characters.anyway, this time around, instead of Patrick Stewart as the boss,we have William Devane.back again are Pierce Brosnan and Alexandra Paul as the the two main characters.Brosnan and Paul are good, and William Devane is fine.i just wish they could have brought back Patrick Stewart,as well.anyway, this movie is a bit different than the first in a few ways.first off, there are some gadgets for Brosnan's character to play with.there's also a bit of intrigue.while the first one didn't have too much humour, this one has a fair bit of comic relief and some good one liners.and unlike the first one, this one strains believability a bit.i don't think they were going for as much realism.the movie also isn't what you would call fast paced, though i think it is a bit quicker than the first one.all in,though, not a bad offering.for me, "Detonator 2:Night Watch" is a 3/5

I felt this was a big disappointment compared to the first one (Detonator). While the chemistry between Mike Graham (Pierce Brosnan) and Sabrina Carver (Alexandra Paul) is evident, the script was poorly written and I felt that this movie was just thrown in together. It was not a very suspenseful movie, and some of the acting is pretty atrocious, especially by the characters in Hong Kong. The first Detonator was very well-written, well-directed, and well-acted with great actors such as Patrick Stewart, Ted Levine, and Christopher Lee, but I could not believe that the same director was responsible for this sequel. I would definitely stick with the first Detonator.

Of all the made for TV movies I have ever seen (This one was made for USA as a USA network original) this has got to be the best one. It is a great story which is 10 times better than the 1st. This movie is a must for action adventure lovers. If anyone can answer my question as to why the title was changed from "Allistair MacLean's Nightwatch" for TV to "Detonator 2: Nightwatch" for video release, please email me.

I brought this video from you. You saved me some money on it.
Here is the Bond man again as Mike Graham.
In this one you see a mutual chemistry between Graham and Sabrina.
He orders vodka martini, straight up with a twist.
This one could have been longer too.
It was unusual seeing Pierce with long hair, but you get the feeling by the opening that he just got back from this mission before they send him off to help Sabrina on a mission, and he just didn't have time for a hair cut and shave.
Anyway, he still looks great to me.

Pierce Brosnan is back as a government soldier/agent, this time looking for whoever stole a famous Rembrandt painting and replaced it with a forgery. Working with a female agent played by Alexandra Paul they travel to Holland where they find the painting in the possession of a businessman. He has a deal with gangsters from Hong Kong that involves a computer chip that can be planted in any telephone and then controlled by a satellite he has invented and plans to launch into space.

Detonator 2 is a little more light hearted in tone than the first one but its really no better of a movie. The plot is convoluted and dopey. The acting is somewhere between amateur and people hired from the local mall. William Devane hams it up during the action-packed but wholly unbelievable ending and then its over, leaving you feeling cheated out of quality entertainment.

This movie is pretty good for a sequel, in fact I believe his performance in this role promoted him to become 007.
