3.0 out of 5 stars much more relaism than most of this genre July 30 2007

Format:DVD
in this movie,a team of crack government agents must stop a freight train with a group of hijackers led by Ted Levine on board who have tken hostages.oh,yeah, there's also a nuclear bomb on board.Patrick Stewart is the head of the agency(U.N.A.CO)don't ask me what it stands for,i can't remember.but that's not really important.Pierce Brosnan and Alexandra Paul lead the mission.i'm sure this movie sounds like many others, and it is.the difference though is the degree of realism in this movie.the bad guys are always one step ahead .they're very intelligent.the good guys are shown as actual human beings, not superhuman.they make mistakes like real people.there are not a lot of death defying believability stretching stunts,or over the top action.i think the way events were portrayed could really happen that way in real life.as for the acting,i've always liked Patrick Stewart and Pierce Brosnan.Alexandra Paul impressed me here though.i found her very credible.i also liked the fact that her character is strong, not a damsel in distress type.Ted Levine is also solid.the supporting performances are also good.having said all that,i will admit that the movie is pretty slow paced at times.that's the only complaint i have though.when you add it all up,i think Detonator AKA Death Train is a 3/5

3.0 out of 5 stars Decent Jan 30 2001
By A Customer
Format:VHS Tape
Anyone who thinks this is the worst movie ever has never seen Pierce brosnan's movie "Taffin."

This is a half-way decent, made-for-cable, pre-James Bond years, trying to make a living film from Brosnan.

1.0 out of 5 stars The MOST HORRIBLE MOVIE EVER MADE! July 30 2000
Format:VHS Tape
This "action" movie was quite frankly the WORST movie I have ever seen. The dialog was completely predictable, the plot was basically non-existant (a Soviet general wants to send a nuclear bomb to Iraq to make the Russians invade it and restore the USSR... huh?), the acting was a step below Jake Lloyd's (I'm shocked that Patrick Steward would even consider appearing in such a cheesy flick), and even the "action" was pathetic; a few gunshots on a rusty train. Oh, and don't look for the soundtrack--it was composed on the director's Apple II. Save yourself the agony; don't watch "Detonator!"
