They call him the Devil . . .
He is the most notorious laird of Scotland: fierce, cold, deadly . . . and maybe even worse. Yet Evelinde has just agreed to wed him. Anything, she thinks, is better than her cruel stepmother. Though Evelinde should be wary of the rumors, she can't help but be drawn to this warrior . . . for the Devil of the Highlands inspires a heat within her that is unlike anything she has ever known.
They may call him whatever they wish, but Cullen, Laird of Donnachaidh, cares only for the future of his clan. He must find a wife, a woman to bear him sons and heed his commands. He has no need for beauty or grace, but one taste of his lovely bride's sweet lips and the sultry feel of her skin arouse an untamed passion. Perhaps there's more to marriage than he thought . . .
Lynsay Sands is the nationally bestselling author of the Argeneau/Rogue Hunter vampire series, as well as numerous historical novels and anthologies. Shes been writing stories since grade school and considers herself incredibly lucky to be able to make a career out of it. Her hope is that readers can get away from their everyday stress through her stories, and if there are occasional uncontrollable fits of laughter, thats just a big bonus.

I am a huge fan of Lynsay Sands, "Argeneau Series". So, I decided to purchase her new novel "Devil of the Highlands", which was slow moving, unexciting and very painful to get through.Signed,Devil Of The Highlands Very Disappointed

This was my first Lynsay Sands book. I like Scottish historical romance and that was what first drew me to the book. I was not disappointed. I read it twice before starting another book and went back and read it again a couple months later. Why did I like it? The two main characters were competent. I don't like stupidity especially in alpha males. I like the struggle in the story to be about more than each character's lack of emotional intelligence. I do not read paranormal at this time so I cannot compare this book to them. This book, however, is in my top favorites even though, by now, I've read a couple hundred more books. And because I love it so much, I've bought the two sequels in this series and Lynsay's back list historical novels. She hasn't disappointed me yet.

not a slapstick fan,
By N.W. Reader - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Devil Of The Highlands (Mass Market Paperback)
When a hero feels all women are witless, silly creatures I get ready for an awesome heroine to make them change their mind. Instead, this woman proves him right over and over. I feel like I'm reading the The Three Stooges and our heroine is playing all 3 parts. It's so ridiculous I can't continue.I'm less than half-way thru the book but it's basically gone from one over the top act (falling in the river, ridiculous way of drying her clothes, hero and heroine knocking each other off their horses, and don't even get me started on that awful, awful wedding ceremony) - is this supposed to be funny? And - somehow most of these ridiculous situations include our heroine ending up fully or at least partially naked in front of Cullens friends. Again, is this supposed to be funny? Showing everyone "what she does and does not have?" I could forge ahead if there was an intriging plot, a good mystery or something, anything!, of interest but the rest of the story has been done over and over and over... From other reviews it sounds like some of Sands other books may be worth reading - I'll just be sure and read the reviews first. I wish I had on this one! 8 of 9 people found the following review helpful

I read it years ago...it was called The Bride by Julie Garwood,

As soon as I started reading the latest historical by Lynsay Sands, I couldn't help but draw comparissons to Julie Garwood's, The Bride, from several years ago. There were too many similarities to name and I couldn't help but think that Julie Garwood had done it much better with her characters. I would find it hard to believe Lynsay Sands had never read Garwood. As I said, way too many similarities.I spent the rest of the weeked rereading Garwood's, The Bride. It made me laugh and made me realize that when you have read historicals for 2 decades, eventually you will find one that mirrors another. And the first is usually the best. 6 of 7 people found the following review helpful

No meat,
By R. Carter "Book lover" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Devil Of The Highlands (Mass Market Paperback)
I liked it enough to try another Lynsay sand book... but it was really one sided from Evelinde's side and I never got to really know or fall in love with Cullen. There was little to no romance between them... he never really had to defend her or stand up for her. It would have been great to see him tell off the step mom! And why did he carry her everytime she got hurt? Stupid. There was one funny scene where they were unloading the wagon... but other then that this was a very boring story with no meat too it. I mean, I wanted a romance... not just a mystery!
