Witty, original and extremely engaging music! April 1 2005
By Hannah - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
This is some of the best music I have heard in a long time. I'm not a big fan of rock and other popular music, mostly because I often don't agree with the lyrics-- they just don't speak to me! But Wir Sind Helden has amazing lyrics; they're not about love and sappy stuff, but about important things. And yet, they manage to sing about important stuff in a deliciously comic way! Just some examples (translated):
"See, the moon built herself a telescope with which she looks into our room at night-- who would have thought that the moon would do such a thing?" -Die nacht.

"Must I always have to do what I can? One hand holds the world and the other offers drinks. I can put my ten feet in twenty doors and perform ballet with the eleventh in my nose." -Müssen Nur Wollen.

I invariably find myself singing along to this uplifting, whimsical music. The lead singer has a great voice and the tunes are creative, catchy and never repetitive. Of course, it's difficult to appreciate this album if you don't understand german-- but if you do, and you haven't heard Wir Sind Helden yet, you're definitely missing out!

Warning: NOT actually Die Reklamation July 14 2006
By I. Seyb - Published on Amazon.com
This is great music, but take note--Wir Sind Helden has two albums out, Von Hier An Blind and Die Reklamation. This is a compilation of those two albums with some songs from each. Not a bad idea, but annoying of Amazon not to show the song list which would make this clear. If you want Die Reklamation, buy one with the framed photo on the cover. If, however, you want a Wir Sind Helden sampler, I guess this compilation is a good thing--Wir Sind Helden makes infectious, enjoyable, get-up-and-dance pop-rock.

Terrific band terrific album Nov 16 2005
By Hobbes - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
This is definitely one of the most original bands I've heard - German or otherwise. Their sound takes many influences from jazz to indie to blues and it works very well. The lyrics are intelligent and witty and Holofernes (strange stage name ... think Assyrian general) has a great voice. It's one of those few albums that gets better after every hearing. In short, one of my best music purchases this year.
