Product Description

Review

"Dieppe can be described quite simply as superb. It is superb in the way it sets out the context for the raid on Dieppe...Superb, too, in the way Brewster, using archival photographs, first-person accounts from surviving combatants or memoirs, and the connective tissue of his beautifully crafted text to tell a story that is equal parts horror and valour." —The Globe and Mail

"Brewster's attention to detail and his ability to present the material in a student-friendly manner, complete with compelling illustrations and facts that have been overlooked or hidden for decades provides for a memorable, informative and essential point of reference for all Canadians and especially those who are just learning now about Canada's past and important struggles which played such an important part in keeping Canada safe for democracy." —The London Free Press

Most helpful customer reviews

4 of 4 people found the following review helpful By Steven R. McEvoy HALL OF FAMETOP 100 REVIEWER on Oct. 23 2009
Format: Hardcover
This story is one from Canadian history that we all need to know about. Brewster writes in a very engaging way, combining historical facts, exhibits, photos and firsthand accounts and quotes. He also does a great job of telling much of the story we don't know. He follows the survivors of the battle of Dieppe through to the end of the war and the return home. This is a great book for any family's library, especially as a reminder close to Remembrance Day.
