I've been a huge Pixies fan for 20+ years. I liked their other tribute album. But this one? Not so much.

Most of the bands on this tribute album are unknown for a reason: They don't even *try*. You know the indie attitude I'm talking about? That lazy hipster I'm-too-cool-to-even-pretend-to-sing crap? *shiver* *SMH* The Pixies sounded great in their heyday exactly *because* they put energy and enthusiasm in their music and performances.

Listen to the samples and see what you think. I downloaded the whole album thinking the songs might be better than the samples. Unfortunately that wasn't the case.

I've just listened to the samples and actually they're not that bad, it's nice to hear some different takes on the classics rather than slavishly copying them (as at least one other Pixies tribute album mostly does, with mostly inferior results). There's no substitute for the originals obviously but these tracks serve to complement them well - mellow, musical and highly listenable.
