Product Description

Product Description

Laura Calder is one of Canada’s most charming Food Network hosts, proving herself witty, engaging, an excellent teacher and a great deal of fun. Laura’s passion for cooking and writing about food shows in her elegant cookbooks, and Dinner Chez Moi is no exception. A menu-based, seasonal cookbook offering multiple options and mix-and-match menus gives cooks as many ideas for meals as there are days in the year. Dinner parties, Laura says, are not stuffy and difficult ordeals; rather, as she puts it, “in my world, ‘dinner party’ just means eating with others. It can be as simple as an omelette or a baked potato, but if I’m not stuck eating it alone, that’s party enough for me!” Dinner Chez Moi is a book for anyone who wants to cook for people they love. Menus deliver delicious food, thoughtful advice and amusing real-life stories, with a light touch.

5.0 out of 5 stars Well Done, Laura!, Oct 19 2011
This review is from: Dinner Chez Moi (Hardcover)
I have Laura's other cookbooks and had high expectations of her latest publication. There is nothing disappointing in this book. It is rather personal with amusing anecdotes, advice and suggestions, filled with wonderful recipes and beautiful pictures. As always, Laura is amazing. This is a great purchase for oneself or as a gift. I highly recommend Dinner Chez Moi.

5.0 out of 5 stars More of a dairy than a cookbook, Nov 2 2011
This review is from: Dinner Chez Moi (Hardcover)
Laura Calder has written many excellent recipe books in the past (incl French Food At Home). This one is actually quite different from all the other cookbooks. Each recipe starts with a little story of a dinner party. It felt almost like a dairy and is a very light read. The book is filled with hand sketched drawings which I find is quite cute for a cookbook. The recipes, despite being inspirational and elegant, are simply extensions of the stories.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Dinner Chez Moi (Hardcover)
When I was homebound for a week, about a year and a half ago, I "discovered" Laura on the French Food At Home TV Series. It was a wonderful combination of education, wit and charm, making it impossible to switch channels.
And now we have Laura's latest work: Dinner Chez Moi. In this beautiful publication Laura shares her insights into cooking, friendships, and culture, in her wonderful outgoing way. This work is a true reflection of the author herself.
In short, the only thing that could be better than having "Dinner Chez Moi" in my possession, would be having the good fortune to be sitting across the table from Laura herself, sharing good food and conversation.
Well done!!! (or is that medium rare?)
