Visually-rich, this book presents clear and compelling evidence for dinosaurs existing with man, and answers many of the questions and contradictions presented by evolutionists. It is refreshing to see the impressive evidence of dinosaur/man coexistence that has been ignored or actually hidden by secular scientists who are supposed to be objective in their inquiry. As a teacher, I highly recommend this book to encourage children use critical thinking skills as they examine this evidence for creation, comparing and contrasting its merits with those of the theory (ie; conjecture) of evolution.

Good content but way to much for my young reader. Wish they would make a kid friendly version. There was a common theme of creationism vrs. Evolution. Still looking for a simple creationist book that would appeal more to 5-8year olds that doesn't have so much of "us vrs them." But more of just simple facts.

Dinosaurs... Do you know a boy who doesn't like these creatures? I have three boys who love to watch, read or play with anything dinosaurs. We have Ice Age (the three of them), Disney Dinosaurs movie, dinosaurs toys (noisy one, Playmobil, Legos,...), and books. So when I got the opportunity to review Dinosaurs for Kids I requested it and waited patiently for it. This book is quite different than the other ones we owned. We do have a dinosaurs book that is Christian based but this new book is above and beyond what I was expecting.
Recently, my husband took in his hands to make me watch the Jurassic Park movies. Believe it or not, I had not seen these movies yet! So far we watched the first two and I still have the third one to watch. Mind you I totally realized that some information in the movies is inadequate but just to see the dinosaurs are worth it. I find them well done and it gives you an idea of what dinosaurs might have looked like.
To get the facts straightened up about the dinosaurs, the book Dinosaurs for Kids is a great resource! Ken Ham takes the time to present both belief systems; evolution and creation. He also points the reasons why evolution is not accurate. The sections of the book are divided in ages - formed, fearless, fallen, flood, faded, found and fiction. Each section contains tons of information that any child (and adult) will find quite interesting. Also included in the sections are scriptures and beautiful artwork to illustrate the text.
We have been reading this book together while we sit on the couch. We snuggle together and go through the pages. We learn together about the dinosaurs and the kids love it. Recently, during a sitting, the kids wanted to get their own dinosaurs while I read it.

First a bit of background: Ken Ham is the founder of Answers in Genesis, a creationist Christian ministry.

This book is full of half-truths and skewed scientific facts. If you have any desire for your children to think with an open mind and accept or reject scientific ideas based on evidence, don't bother with this book.

Please read this before purchasing this book Dec 6 2013

I was shocked at the extreme negative comments posted against this book. It is sad to me that a published book with a creationist young earth view about dinosaurs is so attacked by those that hold another viewpoint.

My suggestion is that if you do not hold a creationist young earth viewpoint, then DO NOT BUY THIS BOOK. It's that simple. Books by Weishampel, Bakker and others may be more to your liking and in keeping with your beliefs and values.

But if you believe in the Bible, (not some part or portion of it), and because of that core belief, you hold to a young earth, creationist view point, then this book is for you.

Not sure why people are so upset. If God offends you, then don't go to church. If creationist beliefs offend you, then don't buy books written by creationists.

This is a book written from a "young earth" christian perspective. There are a lot of hate reviews on it, however I don't see why people should fear alternative views and theories. I personally want my children to explore all possibilities. It's what works their young minds to reason and decide themselves. I don't have anything to fear from the evolution viewpoint they encounter daily. Why not give them ALL the information and let our children decide for themselves? Give them a book from each side of the argument. I believe in my children's intelligent ability to learn and reason.

A Great Primer for Dinosaur Enthusiasts from a Biblical Creationist Perspective June 22 2015
By Sirius Knott - Published on
Format: Hardcover
In Dinosaurs for Kids, Ken Ham of Answers in Genesis has asked us to consider that there was not an Age of Dinosaurs. Rather there have been seven "ages" of dinosaurs, alliterated as 7 F’s.

Formed – Dinosaurs were created on Day 6 with Man
Fearless – Man and dinosaurs co-existed without fear in God’s perfect Creation.
Fallen – Due to the effects of the Fall, carnivory begins. Since some dinosaurs eat meat now and since man is essentially meat, well…. the honeymoon is over!
Flood – The Great Flood destroys all life except that aboard the Ark. The majority of fossils are formed at this time.
Faded – The dinosaurs leave the Ark. Due to changes in climate and other factor [an Ice Age, for example] dinosaurs slowly go [mostly] extinct. Memories of dinosaurs as dragons take on some fantastical elements as the real creatures begin to fade from observable ecology.
Fossils – As noted, scientists begin to discover dinosaur bones and realize they were a distinct class of creatures no longer seen on Earth.
Fiction – The age in which we now live, where secular scientists, textbooks and museums tell us that dinosaurs lived millions of years ago, that they evolved into birds and other fictions.
Bill Mooney's illustrations are beautifully done. The book does a great job of relating dinosaurs from a Biblical perspective in an entertaining way and gives an invitation to the Gospel at the end, so bonus!

The only drawbacks to this book are in its formatting. If you're reading it to children, well, good luck. It doesn't read well. Little fact boxes, in the form of single text boxes and Four Fast Facts pepper the sections of this book. I think they do make the book more interesting, but it makes reading it to smaller children a bit of an ADHD experience! This book is clearly intended for children who can read it at their own pace.

I generally recommend Dinosaurs for Kids for those who have children with questions about dinosaurs and the Bible, but its a great synopsis of the Biblical creationist position for dinosaur enthusiasts of any age. You can find out more about Dinosaurs for Kids on Amazon and Answers in Genesis' website.

As a Creationist, I found this book to be really disappointing. It bored the kids and came across as being very "preachy". Also, a lot of the pictures are very cheesy.
