First Rate Status,
By Bonnie Toews "Heart Tugs ... at the crossroad... (Newcastle, Ontario Canada) - See all my reviews (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Disaster Status (Paperback)
Candace Calvert delivers another top-notch drama in the world of Emergency personnel right from her chilling opening scene: Fire Captain Scott McKenna, carrying a child in jerking seizures, bolts through the ER doors of Pacific Mercy Hospital just as farm trucks filled with sick people pull into the parking lot. Immediately the ER doctor and staff are dealing with possible hazardous material contaminating the local water supply because of a plane crash. Into this adrenalin-pumping situation, Candace delivers a conflicted hero -- the fire captain who wants to move away from Pacific Point and tragic memories -- and a spunky red-headed heroine -- the day-shift charge nurse Erin Quinn, whom he won't let past the barricades because she rushed in to help without her badge clipped to her uniform. It's all here: pride and prejudice, action, conflict, authentic medical and firefighting trauma, believable love story that grows slowly as trust develops, humor, flawed characters you want to embrace because they battle the same self-doubts in faith many of us share, and inspiration to hearten your soul and heal your heart. I couldn't put the book down. Candace Calvert has established her niche, and I look forward to her next story in the Mercy Hospital series.

ER nurse plus firefighter equal romance,
By
This review is from: Disaster Status (Paperback)
It's been awhile since I read a nursing romance. This book had it all, the romance, the hospital crises, the handsome firefighter, and the personality clashes. ER nurse Erin Quinn has a relationship with God but like many of us there are areas in which she refuses to allow God to reign. Her area is "forgiveness". The book is well written, fast paced with believable characters and heart-rendering situations. I like that the secondary characters are fleshed out and become part of Erin's story not just secondary characters. Although it is the second in a series it can stand alone without confusing the reader.

Light, Heartwarming! Disaster Status by Candace Calvert,
By April A. Renn "aarenn(AprilR)" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Disaster Status (Paperback)
DISASTER STATUS by Candace Calvert is an Inspirational Medical Romance set in modern day Pacific Mercy ER. It is the second in the Mercy Hospital series but is easily read as a stand alone. It is well written with depth and detail. The medical terminology is great, the detail exact. It has drama, forgiveness, guilt, snippets of humor, hope and faith. The characters are strong, pull you into the story and hold your attention. It is fast paced from the beginning to the end. If you enjoy medical romance and drama you will enjoy this one. This book was received for review from Tyndale and details can be found at My Book Addicton and More.

Another Terrific ER Romance from Candace Calvert,
By Stacey - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Disaster Status (Paperback)
I would like to extend a heartfelt "Thank you" to Candace Calvert and her publisher for sending me a copy of "Disaster Status" to review for them. I have always been grateful for this generosity, and I am trying to improve at being consistent in taking the time to thank these wonderfully giving individuals in a public forum. I really appreciate your time, effort and expense in making a reviewer copy available to me.Candace Calvert brings the ER of Pacific Mercy to life once again in the second novel in the Mercy Hospital series, "Disaster Status". In this hospital-come-to-life drama, ER Charge Nurse Erin Quinn is struggling with life. She wants nothing to do with her father, and thinks she knows what's best for her grandmother. In her professional life, she is dealing with a massive agricultural contamination that is keeping the ER full of poisoning victims. Enter Fire Captain Scott McKenna, who is battling demons of his own. His hero father's very public death haunts him, as does the accident that took his sister and her husband away from his young nephew. When these two meet, the sparks begin to fly, but will they lead to romance or will they just get burned. I waited patiently for this book, and I am so glad it's here! Calvert is not only a good writer, her experience as an ER nurse adds life and credibility to her stories. I love this series, and will continue to keep my eyes peeled for more offerings from this amazing writer. 12 of 12 people found the following review helpful

Fabulous and faith-affirming...,
By N. Herriman - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Disaster Status (Paperback)
Disaster Status is another wonderful book in the Mercy Hospital series. Nurse Erin Quinn and firefighter Scott McKenna are highly sympathetic characters whose outer strength masks internal pain. When they're both forced to face the consequences of a toxic pesticide spill, they're challenged to trust themselves, each other and God. Fast-paced and filled with the accurate details of life in an emergency room, this book is a must for anyone who loves contemporary inspirational fiction.
