Product Description

Metro's 2001 comp Disco Party Classics is an excellent 18-track overview of the Irish family group's career, containing nearly all of their big British hits including "I'm in the Mood for Dancing," a cover of Bryan Adams' "Run to You," "Don't Love Me Too Hard," "Gotta Pull Myself Together," "Who's Gonna Rock You?," "Attention to Me" and "Chemistry." Although there are a handful of absent singles -- most notably "Don't Make Waves" -- the grand majority of Nolans' hits are here in this well-annotated, budget-priced compilation. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Guide

5.0 out of 5 stars Great music from a great girl group! Nov. 22 2002
Format:Audio CD
This is the latest release from the Nolans - a talented, slick and sensual group of Irish born sisters who were the forerunners of the Spice Girls et al! The only difference is that these girls can really sing!! And their live performances over the years make the Spice Girls look like a bunch of amateur wannabes!
The Nolans had eight UK top 40 hits including their "anthem" - In the mood for dancing, a worldwide hit. This album features some of their best singles and other tracks they recorded for albums during the late seventies and early eighties. The harmonies are great, the image is great, the tunes are catchy, and the songs give the girls the chance to show off their talents - I especially like the hits "Chemistry", "Attention to me", and "Who's gonna rock you", and there is a great version of Unchained Melody and I love their treatment of "That's what friends are for".
I'm sure all Nolans fans will snap up this album to complete their collection - I have met the group a few times and they are lovely down to earth girls who truly appreciate their fans.
It would be great to have some NEW NOLANS recordings soon - the group is still alive and well with 2 originals - Maureen and Anne and two younger members Amy and Julia. Their stage shows are great - what about some recordings soon - P L E A S E !!!

If you are looking for all the Nolans original hit singles, BEWARE. The versions of all their hits on this disc, including 'I'm In the Mood For Dancing', 'Chemistry', 'Spirit, Body & Soul', 'Attention To Me', and 'Sexy Music' are all mid-1980's rerecordings for the Japanese market, where the sisters were true Superstars. The versions are very good, but they are not the originals. The 7 new songs here, including Brian Adams "Run To You" , "Unchained Melody" and Buddy Holly's "Because I Love You" are all well done.
