Disney's A Christmas Carol,
This review is from: Disney's A Christmas Carol - 1-Disc DVD (DVD)
This was not a good remake and we would not recommend it for viewing by children. It was souless, noisy and missed out the visit to Bob Crachets family and Tiny Tim only appearred at the very end. This was not one of Jim Carey's best movies and we were very dissappointed.Disney's A Christmas Carol - 1-Disc DVD

The detail was amazing..,
This review is from: Disney's A Christmas Carol - 4-Disc BD (3D BD+2D BD+DVD+Digital Copy) [Blu-ray] (Blu-ray)
I always enjoy watching stuff in 3d and cinema 3d makes it more interesting. Secondly, love watching animated movies. This had nice story and was fun to watch. Such an immense focus to the detail. One bad thing that happened to me was that, when I bought it the price went down before I even received the shipment. Such a blow but it was fun to watch and must say you should buy it aswell...

I love the book, and there have been some really great film adaptations (the Alistair Sim version leading the pack). This is not one of them. To give it credit, it must have been visually specatucular in the theatre, but you don't need elaborate special effects to get to the heart of the story. I found that so much of the story in this version was to spotlight the 3d effects, that when you are viewing it in 2d, it's just annoying (I fast-forwarded through the hearse-chasing-Scrooge segment, and it still took 5 minutes to get through). The Muppet version did a far better job of having it's own spin, but still retaining the character of the story.I have to admit that Jim Carrey isn't always my favourite actor, and didn't care must for his characterization of the Ghosts (what was with that weird whispery Irish accent on the first Ghost?). I have to agree with some of the other reviewers that this will scare the hell out of little kids. The Marley's face ripping in half bit, and the dying and disintegrating Second Ghost were completely unnecessary, and pretty inapproptiate. And on a personal observation level, any movie that can make Colin Firth unattractive as an animated character doesn't deserve more than one star. Just saying.
