wow,
This review is from: Distancias (Audio CD)
Jason Mcguire plays like the guitar is an extension of his soul. A man possesed and blessed with talent.
You feel his emotion not just in the melody but with the pluck of each string. A must listen to album

real flamenco done right,
By flamenco fan - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Distancias (Audio CD)
Al Dimeola? Uh no, this guy is a real flamenco guitarist who's cd shows his understanding and mastery of flamenco as it's done in Spain today. More than that, it shows a great musician who has original ideas within the tradition. Just a great player and a great cd. If you like flamenco guitar, buy it.

EVOLUTION OF TRADITION,
By Chris K "thesandu" - Published on Amazon.com
If one pays careful attention to any of the great artists, one will find simultaneously a loyal devotion to the traditional foundation of their art-form, combined with a fierce desire to build on that foundation with new and innovative inspirations that reflect both the artist's prevailing cultural environment and stimulus, plus the artist's own unique creative genius, without compromising the original integrity of the previous masters' intent and discoveries. This is very difficult to do. There are so many gifted artists who unfortunately lose sight of this and allow their arrogance or insecurities to interfere with their work.As first done by Paco de Lucia, and recently by Vicente Amigo among others, now Jason McGuire is one of those rare individuals who contribute to the evolution of great tradition. And from Texas of all places, to further prove the Universality of Great Music. This debut album is indispensible to all who appreciate the mystery and emotion of Flamenco Music. From the lilting lullaby in Rachel Camela (Alegrias), to the astonishing Solea, Suenos de Fragua, we witness the great passion of Flamenco introduced again in fresh new forms. Buy this, listen often and have fun, and let's hope for more soon from this exciting, new interpreter!
