So Groovy, So Chill..., Sep 23 2007
This review is from: Dj Kicks (Audio CD)
I often find that the more popular compilations series like DJ Kicks, Another Late Night and Back to Mine expose me to an incredible array of excellent and often obscure tracks and Daddy G (of Massive Attack) is no exception with this compilation.
Featuring and a laid back mix of reggae, dancehall, French hip-hop, trip-hop, soul and even qaali this mix has probably gotten more play from me than any other compilation series I own.
Personal favourites include Melaaz's French rendition of No, No, No (ala Non, Non, Non) which smoothly leads into Tricky's Aftermath. Mos Def's I Against I and the legendary Barrington Levy also fill this compilation out.
I would not only highly recommend this album but also any compilation in the series I mentioned by and artist that you're interested in. They'll often turn you onto to new sounds you've not heard before.
