I have to say that I LOVE this cd with a passion! I first picked it up years ago on both LP and cassette, and now I have it cd as well...I was never one to listen to what critics say, and they have this cd pegged dead wrong in my opinion...It's sad that this cd is very hard to come by these days...The album opens with the upbeat, pop-enhanced 'It's Up To You', and then following close behind that is 'Rearview Mirror Romance', another upbeat ditty...Then you have the title track (probably the 2nd rockiest tune on there), followed by the melancholy 'Are You Lonely Tonight'...Then they go upbeat again with two more songs:
'The Name Of The Game' and 'Kiss Me Red'...Then perhaps the personal highlight for me on here is 'Take Me To The Top'...Robin's vocals sound so beautiful on that tune...Then comes the heavy loud guitar rock riffs on 'Good Girls Go To Heaven (Bad Girls Go Everywhere)'...I haven't ever heard another song like 'Man-U-Lip-U-Lator'since The Doctor cd and 'It's Only Love' was a good way to end off the album...It might not be for everybody, but from where I stand, This 'Doctor' is definitely IN!

This was the first Cheap Trick album that I bought new on cd, so you can imagine what a disappointment it was to me. I taped it and took it to work with plans to spend the whole day discovering it's genius, only to find that as Cheap Trick albums go, it's a drooling, nose-picking idiot. Only "Are You Lonely Tonight" consistently makes the Cheap Trick retrospectives that I've either taped or recorded to cd, and it exists just to have a representative from each album. It's not that good.

I own all of the cheap trick cd's and this one is the one that I do play the least but it has grown on me after a while and it is really not that bad if you listen to it more than once. It's cheap tricks most underated album and is out of print. I fyou like cheap trick then this is a must have if you can find it. If you are just a casual listener stick with the greatest hits package instead.

I suppose with so many famous bands, there is always a time for whatever reason, someone leaves. This time it was bassist Tom Petersson.
On this particular CD, he was replaced by Jon Brant. Jon's playing by the way, certainly doesn't ruin the sound of "Cheap Trick" as we know them on this CD. It's still "Cheap Trick" and well worth buying!

Yes, this is largly considered their worst album, and it hasn't aged well with me, but it's not a total waste. It's Only Love is perhaps my favorite Cheap Trick song ever, and Kiss Me Red has held up well. ANYTHING on this album is still better than The Flame, IMHO!
