Finally! A Harlequin Medical Author Worth Reading, July 21 2011
By S Brown "S Brown" - Published on Amazon.com
Okay, I've read about 10 Harlequin Medical's, and maybe I've just had a spell of bad luck, but they all pretty much suck.
So thank you to Amy Andrews who has managed to redeem this particular genre for me. I've only read two works by her so far but they were both very well written. I think she's one of the few Harlequin authors who is able to combine romantic fiction with enough reality to make the story and the characters believable.
Pediatric nurse Maggy is divorced, childless, and forty. All she's ever wanted was a baby. But after years of trying everything, including artificial insemination (which put her deeply in debt)she was still unable to conceive, and then her husband left.
Nash Reece is a handsome doctor 10 years Maggy's junior and who is a major flirt. He's looking for a fling. He doesn't plan on allowing anyone or anything derail him from goals. Even though Maggy insults him (and his youth) he is unperturbed, refusing to ignore their mutual attraction for each other until one night Maggy gives in.
Their one night stand turns into a long term fling until Maggy gets pregnant. She is happy beyond belief while Nash feels his world has just coming crashing down on him. Refusing to derail his dreams, Maggy releases him from all obligations so that he can achieve the goals he had set for himself and he reluctantly agrees.
That's pretty much all I can say without issuing a spoiler alert, but needless to say, this book was a great read.
I loved how their issues were handled, loved how real and alive the characters were portrayed, and loved this authors weaving of the story.
