Doctor Who: Dead Air,
By
This review is from: Doctor Who: Dead Air: An Exclusive Audio Adventure Read by David Tennant (Audio CD)
Excellent audio adventure. Very exciting story with lots of twists and suspension to keep you listening. David Tennant's interpretation makes you feel as claustrophobic and stuck on the boat as the rest of the characters.

This seemed like a set-up for failure: put David Tennant in a room and have him tell a story, in the present tense, for about an hour. And then listen...letting a really good yarn take hold of you and at the end, you have yourself a great (albeit creepy) gift from the BBC.The story takes place aboard an underground radio boat, broadcasting illegal rock music to a pre-fab England. The Doctor comes aboard searching for a monster that is made of sound and kills people by finding their voices, taking them over slowly. Sounds creepy? Give yourself an earful then! Tennant's performance does this story justice, assuming different voices and tense. The script is great as well. The combo...wow!

the best audio 'story' for the Tenth Doctor!,

Yes, Dead Air is another new audio exclusive story, and yes, it is read by David Tennant. Now that we have that out of the way, what I found special about this is that David Tennant doesn't just simply narrate "Dead Air". He reads it "in character" as the Tenth Doctor. Throughout the whole story. This Doctor Who adventure is presented to the listener as if they're listening to a recording recovered from a sunken boat, circa 1960's. The first words you hear(after an introduction that informs you that the age of the recording may affect the sound quality) is "Hello, I'm the Doctor. And if you can hear this, then one of us is going to die". This will really appeal to fans of the Tenth Doctor. This story is adult in the same manner that episodes like "Blink" and "Midnight" are. They can be fun for kids, but older fans will get just as much(if not more) enjoyment out of them. :) 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful

I love the tenth doctor, and he is my doctor. I enjoyed hearing him in this story but did feel the story was a bit short and for the price would have liked either a longer story or something other than just the story. Still, I enjoyed it. Tennant does great voices for the characters, and you can certainly tell who is speaking. I found the story very entertaining and it even kept me guessing much of the time. With the descriptions I could picture the action very well, which is not always the case with an audio book. I have given this 4 stars because of the cost vs length.

Have listened to this several times already. Well done. Love that it is read from The Doctor's perspective and in character by Mr. T.
