Sandra Boynton's - Dog Train,
By
This review is from: Dog Train CD: And 16 Other Improbable Songs (Audio CD)
I can't express how much I love this CD/Book set as a parent. I was deep in the depths on listening to a Disney CD for the millionth time in the car when I stumbled across Dog Train. I bought it because of all of the artists listed. These artists are many of the artists that I have enjoyed in the past and continue to enjoy new music from. I prayed my daughter would enjoy this CD. It was a hit! She absolutely LOVES this set. She sits in the back seat and follows along with the book. Her favorite songs are "Sneakers", "Penguin Lament" & "Broccoli". My husband & my personal favorite happen to be "The Boring Song". It is great! I love the fact that Steve & Edyie poke fun at themselves from a child's viewpoint. Sandra Boynton's creativity which is normally seen in her books shines through this CD set! After hearing this one I actually went out and bought the other two CD sets she has made. I very much enjoy the tongue in cheek view on the song subjects and my daughter finds them very funny as well. We were even able to use the songs as learning conversations about proper behavior and refer to them jokingly when the need arrives to difuse similar problems at home. One more note...The book has the CD tracks that corresponde with the songs. My daughter learned to identify her numbers 11-17 (the teens mainly) by telling me which track number she wanted. So it even became a learning tool. Enjoy!

Our whole family just loved the Philadelphia Chickens and so I was eager to get Dog Train. We weren't disapointed. I would say the Chickens is still the our favourite but there are lots of tunes on Dog Train that are just as good. I personally could do without Cow Planet especially repeated but the majority of the rest are great. We also have Rhinoceros Tap and Dog Train is better. By the way there are no children under 12 in our family.

My 6 yr old and 4 yr old girls LOVE this CD/book combination. The music is fun, the book is colorful. As an adult, this is the best kids music I've heard. Often times I find myself singing the songs without the kids around.

Great music for kids and adults!,

I have a degree in music education, and I love working with young children. However, I HATE listening to Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, If You're Happy and You Know It, The Ants Go Marching, and all the other "classic" songs for children. Ugh. All of Sandra Boynton's CDs are wonderful, but this is my favorite. The songs are clever, catchy, and fun to dance to. This CD is great for introducing your kids or students to rock and roll. The kids I've worked with have loved it, and I even listen to it on my own! Unlike "The Hokey Pokey," these songs never get old.
