HASH(0xaa1f2114) out of 5 stars Excellent adaptation of Mann's Doktor Faustus bought from Amazon Oct. 24 2012

Fine adaptation of Thomas Mann's novel of the retelling of the Faust myth by transporting it to the 20th century. Standout performance by Jon Finch as the faustinian figure composer Adrian. Although dubbed into German, his physical performance nails the character.

The fim must have been gorgeous to look at when first released but it needs digital restoration.

HASH(0xaa389168) out of 5 stars misleading advertisement March 10 2010

This is a made-for-TV product that is passed off as a movie. Thus, when I saw credits after some time of watching, I assumed it was over. But such an ending hardly made sense, so I looked again and the credits were for part 1 of the 3-part series! Very poor on the part of the marketers. Watchers should have been warned to look out for it.
