5.0 out of 5 stars brilliant and thrilling May 9 2009
Format:DVD
This series did take a few episodes to set everything up, like the first hill on a roller-coaster, but when it explodes into the first twists and turns it is riveting! Eliza is beautiful but sometimes lacks a little luster; this is shielded, however, by the phenomenal supporting cast and characters around her.

As the season progresses you are drawn deeper and deeper into this world and begin to question your own ethics when faced with the possibilities of this technology. And the season finale? It has us all BEGGING for a second season.

A group of us have been addicted to this show from the beginning and have rescheduled our Friday nights around watching it - the story can't end there - there is still to much to tell!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Hitting its stride May 5 2009
Format:DVD
Though Dollhouse took a while to get going, the last half of the season should not be missed and, well, you won't understand it without the first half. Eliza Dushku is gorgeous and fascinating to watch. The rest of the cast is also wonderful and keeps you guessing as the details unfold. If you are a Whedonverse fan, you will be happy to see some familiar faces. Whether you are a Whedon fan or not, this is a must-see.

4.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant, but problematic. Jun 20 2011
By Buffyvssatan TOP 1000 REVIEWER
Format:DVD
The concept of this television show is brilliant, but also problematic. I think that this show would have stand a better chance without Eliza Dushku as the lead actress. I like her, but in my opinion she doesn't have enough of an "average girl" and/or "good girl" vibe to be the center of a television show like Jennifer Garner in Alias or Sarah Michelle Gellar in Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Better yet, I think that Dollhouse would've lasted a while longer if the lead character would have been someone else than a doll. Someone with memories of her or his own existence. Let's face it; it's hard for people to identify with a character who doesn't have a personnality or has more than one in the same episode. We, the viewers, are suppose to feel sorry for someone who can't even feel anything. We are suppose to care for a girl who doesn't care about the situation she's in because she's not even aware of it. Even if when the show begins Echo starts to show bits and pieces of awareness; it's not enough.

Even if Dollhouse is not perfect and that I understand why it was cancelled, it's still worth your time. The themes that are discussed are something we rarely see on television. Some of the episodes are priceless and the potential that Dollhouse has will charm you.
