Book Description

Sep 15 2010
The kids in McKinley High School’s glee club, New Directions, might not be the most popular, but Glee is unquestionably a runaway hit. Since its premiere in May 2009, Glee has exploded as one of the most popular hours on TV, earning an astounding 19 Emmy nominations in its first season. In addition to the show’s staggering success, Glee’s songs have been heating up the music charts, with 25 tracks on the 2009 hot 100 list, a hit-rate topped only by the Beatles when they had 31 hits in 1964. Don't Stop Believin’ pays tribute to the glorious mash-up of music, comedy, drama and social commentary that has put Glee and its band of misfits in the spotlight. Written by gleeks extraordinaire Erin Balser and Suzanne Gardner, the book is jam-packed with: • an in-depth episode-by-episode exploration of the show, focusing on themes, storylines and main characters • all the details on the hit songs in every episode, behind-the-scenes happenings and the show’s entertainment and cultural references • exclusive interviews with Glee actors including Stephen Tobolowsky (Sandy Ryerson), Heather Morris (Brittany), and Ken Avenido (Howard Bamboo) • personal stories from fellow gleeks about what the show means to them • biographies of the principal players and guest stars • the story of the making of Glee and how it was brought to life by creator Ryan Murphy • fun and informative sidebars • terrific on- and off-set photos of the cast Capturing all the highs and lows of this ground-breaking series, Don't Stop Believin’ is a show-stopping guide to Glee’s journey, the perfect companion for fans who demand an encore once the curtain falls.

Review

"The ultimate resource for truly dedicated fans. The authors' unabashed enthusiasm and total immersion in the 'huge, complicated and fascinating world' of Glee is apparent throughout this highly readable companion volume. . . . The authors present a treasure trove of facts and trivia, while keeping the tone accessible and chatty. Gleeks will want this volume by their side as they watch—or re-watch—episodes and delight in each and every detail of the show."  —School Library Journal

"Glee, the TV phenom of the moment, is explained but not overly analyzed in this lightweight unofficial guide to people and events at McKinley High School's singing club. Coauthors Erin Balser and Suzanne Gardner’s focus is on storylines and main characters with some the best and wittiest lines noted."  —Globe and Mail

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't Stop Believin' Mar 28 2011

This book was a very interesting read. It lists every Glee episode up until the last episode of the first season. It also tells the reader about the cast, and personal stories from their auditions for the show. The book also lists the mistakes that were taped in each episode. I had never noticed them before, so when I went back and saw the episodes again, it was fun to notice them while I was watching. Overall, it was a very well writen book, and I personaly enjoyed it.

This is the first book I have ever bought for the hit TV show Glee and I am loving it so much.
The authors did a lot of research work on each episode and present the whole picture both on and off stage. A backgroud introduction to each song and the story line and the actors interview and so many good stuff to be explored. I found this very helpful.

A MUST-see book for the gleeks!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Trivia Book for Glee Lovers April 14 2011
By Paige Turner - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
This is my first Glee Trivia book I purchased. It is filled with all sorts of interesting information about the Show's creators, the actors, the characters and plotlines. It is a bit out of date in that in only discusses season 1, but don't let that stop you from buying this great, fact-filled book about Glee.
