Album Description

Considered by many to literally be The Heaviest Band In The World, Electric Wizard is more like a cult than a band. The Wizard conjure up visions of Alistair Crowley having a black trip with HP Lovecraft, whilst gazing at the most far out biker flicks ever created. This, combined with the crustiest gravity defying Doom riffs and drones, Electric Wizard have one mission: To Destroy! Plastic Head.

5.0 out of 5 stars "Flying High Again", Sep 4 2010

I recently purchased this cd on reviewer feedback alone. I was extremely excited about this cd as others' were describing "the Wizard" as Sabbath-esque, doom and gloom metal! Much to my excitement the cd did not disappoint. From the opening track, Vinum Sabbathi, to the final cut, this cd takes you on a journey of purple hazy buzz guitars and angry, somewhat melodic, vocals that seem to work in all the right places if doom metal is your thing. (I hate labels) My personal favourite track is The Hills Have Eyes with the killer "Funeropolis" running a close second. Again this cd is highly recommended to anyone who likes that "minor chord" buzz doom metal thing like I do. Rock on!!!

There is nothing I can say about this album that hasn't already been said. From music to artwork the album is top notch. I just wanted to add that its worth buying Dopethrone just for the intro to Funeralopolis which begins just as Vinum Sabbathi is fading out.

5.0 out of 5 stars as doomy as it gets, May 26 2004

Electric Wizard has set the standard here for doom metal bands. From the opening track Vinum Sabbathi all the way through, they rock out in such a way that Black Sabbath would be proud. The vocals have some distortion and the guitars are kind of sludgey but all this just enhances the masterpiece that this band has created. If you are a fan of Black Sabbath, Sleep, or just a metal fan in general, buying this album is something that you should do. Trust me, you won't be disappointed.
