5.0 out of 5 stars four entertaining contemporary romantic novellas, Dec 4 2009
By Harriet Klausner - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Double The Heat (Paperback)
"Hart and Soul" by Lori Foster. After switching places with his twin (see "Deuces Wild" in Double the Pleasure), Hart Winston avoids Lisa Vogle until he realizes how much he misses her; however, he is in for a surprise when he finally contacts her.

"Breaking the Ice" by Deirdre Martin. In New York Lennie Buckley has no interest in men until she meets in a comedy of errors NHL player Sebastian Ivanov.

"Double Booked" by Elizabeth Bevarly. Her friends allow Amanda Bingham to use their condo while she is on vacation; they also allow Max Callahan, whom she loathes, to use it too.

"Original Zin" by Christie Ridgway. John Henry Hudson and Zin Friday meet when she is his chauffeur. He wants her but she fears he will reject her if he gets to know her.

These are four entertaining contemporary romantic novellas starring fully developed characters. Fans will especially enjoy the return of the other Winston twin and another Deirdre Martin hockey tale.

4.0 out of 5 stars Light, funny and engaging romance, Dec 1 2009

Breaking the Ice by Deirdre Martin

Deirdre Martin has written a short and charming romance.

Lennie has recently moved to New York to take classes at a fashion college. Where she quickly makes herself at home with her Aunt Mary and an eclectic cast of housemates that are a fun and amusing to read. On a chance occurrence of mistaken identify she meets the handsome and friendly Sebastian the newest member of the city's professional hockey team. Lennie is very attracted to Sebastian and decides to let him continue to think she is the woman he was supposed to meet.

Sebastian has just moved to New York and he enjoys hanging out with his teammates. But he wants to prove to his teammates that women and men can share a purely platonic relationship. He decides to meet a woman on Craig's List to prove it. When he find one that fits his personality, called `New to New York' he knows they will hit it off famously. As he and Lennie explore New York their friendship blossoms and he finds that his teammates maybe right because he can't help thinking of Lennie in terms other than platonic!

This was a quick romance that was fun to read. Both characters were very likeable. I particularly enjoyed reading Sebastian's character he is a genuine and caring hero that any reader would easily fall in love with! However, since this was a shorter story than Deirdre Martin usually writes. I did feel that that character development was as strong and her normal length books.

If you are looking for a light, funny and engaging romance this is one that you will enjoy.

Double the Heat is a great book. Lori Foster delivers again( as usual) with this installment of the Winston men. The other stories are great as well but Lori Foster always steals the show!
