Although the author needs a crash course in the proper use of titles (she refers to her viscount hero as Lord Francis Knollton several times, and to his stepmother as Lady Lydia), readers who can overlook these errors will discover a lovely tale featuring a sweet heroine, an honorable hero, and a fully realized supporting cast, all rendered in an understated, Austenesque style.

This was a true Regency novel with all the aspects which makes a devoted regency period lover get involved and holds your interest throughout. I am a stickler for certain details of the Regencies I read such as:

(a) an appropriate age difference between the hero and heroine
(b) the heroine is genteel in some way, even if impoverished
at least she has good "bloodlines" in her past
(c) she need have goodness in her and un underlying spirit
(d) even if he is a rake or scoundrel, he must come around as
a man of principles, honor and with a kind heart (eventually)
(e) I like the hero to be tall, solid, well visaged, dark haired
(f) my heroine should be petite, the other colors fall in with
her character

So you see, if these measures are in the books I purchase, I will highly recommend them to you. Please don't misunderstand me, I do read all regencies where the two main characters do not quite match up to my visions but I read them anyway. Beggars can't always be choosers.
