Book Description

March 30 2010
"Freedom is addictive" Bicycle touring, for the Travises, is the purest realization of a free life. Tim and Cindie travel farther outside their comfort zone than ever before. They encountered oppressive communism, thieves; and a fist fight with a drunken man in rural Vietnam. Exposure to War and Genocide were reminders of how precious life can be. Despite all this the Travises once again were humbled by the warmth and friendliness of humanity.

5.0 out of 5 stars A choice read for armchair travelers, highly recommended July 8 2010
By Midwest Book Review - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
No mode of transportation other than walking is more personal than the bicycle. "Down the Road in Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam: A Bicycle Tour Through War, Genocide, and Forgiveness" is a memoir from Tim & Cindie Travis as they recount their ride through Southeast Asia and their particular adventures and misadventures. An exciting story well dotted with photographs, "Down the Road in Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam" is a choice read for armchair travelers, highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars FANTASTIC AS USUAL July 10 2010

This is the second of the Travis' books i have and i've had their first book as an audio book.
Makes an interseting read though it is a tad light on after reading the EXCELLENT two books by Alastair Humphries.
I was very impressed with the speedy delivery to me here in Australia - about the same time it takes a book to be delivered when bought domestically - very impressive indeed.
Happy shopper yet again.
Cheers and beers

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Great Book !!!! April 15 2012

This is another great book in the "Down The Road" adventures.
It gives you a good description of the local environment, and
the trials of being a visitor in a strange land. This book follows
the same high level of narration as the first two books. I hope to
do some bicycle touring myself one day, if I keep reading these books
it might be sooner than ,later.

A cyclist at heart, I enjoyed reading of the adventures and people Tim and Cindie met along the way. Takes a lot of courage to pack the essentials and travel through Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam. A good read even for non-cyclist.
