Length: 0:21 Mins
This is a hardcover book with a dust jacket. It contains almost 200 pages of full colour illustrations.

Right at the front is a multi-fold page that unfolds into a small Dragon Ball poster with a thank you note from Akira Toriyama.

Following on are illustrations from the weekly JUMP title covers as well as comic covers. Each is fully coloured and reproduced big. It really brings back memories of reading the comic, as well as anticipating weekly at the comic book store.

It's really great again to marvel at the uniform ink strokes and character designs of Akira Toriyama.

Every piece of work is annotated at the back of the book. Included is also the very unique sequential spine art for the comic, which at that time I thought was really cool. There are also mugshots of Akira Toriyama over the years, including photos and icons.

An interview with Akira Toriyama is also included to give this book some depth.

There's really nothing not to like about this book if you're a Dragon Ball fan.

Great Dragonball Artbook! Aug. 14 2008
By Elijah Stahling - Published on Amazon.com
For those that don't know, this is a huge manga artbook that contains hundreds of drawings from the manga "Dragon Ball"(split into two parts Dragonball and Dragonball Z by Viz in America). This book is a great value because it has accurate translations and unedited drawings, the way Toriyama intended it to be. I would like to thank Viz for doing a great job with this release, and I hope they release the other 6 main Daizenshuu from Japan.

So if you are a casual DB(Z) fan looking to add to your manga collection, or the most insane Dragonball collector, this release is for you. The artwork is top notch, and has something for Dragonball fans of all ages. 5 Stars, and great job by Viz!!!!
A Great Hardcover Collection of A Master Storyteller Jan. 12 2011
By Jeff Harris - Published on Amazon.com

I've been a fan of Dragon Ball since it came on in syndication in the mid 1990s in the dark ages before the internet really gained traction amongst the populace of this world. When they brought Dragon Ball Z here, I felt I was watching something great. Viz brought the manga Stateside around the same time Cartoon Network began airing it on their late great Toonami block. I learned the name Akira Toriyama, and I've grown to respect the creator over the decades. He's a master storyteller who created a series that honored Chinese legends of the past, created a link to Western storytelling devices, including superheroics and sci-fi, and provided some of the best fighting sequences and characters ever brought to the pages and eventually television sets around the world for close to three decades.

This book's title, Dragon Ball: The Complete Illustrations, is a bit of a misnomer. It's an English version of a Japanese art book published after Dragon Ball's conclusion in Weekly Shonen Jump back in 1995, so it doesn't include rare character sketches nor any promotional images for the animated series, including the Toei-driven Dragon Ball GT. What you do see are familiar images throughout the decade-long series appear in beautiful color, including covers and various character images. You could see the evolution of Mr. Toriyama's art and design practices over the decade, and as an illustrator, I feel inspired by his works. There's even a rare interview with him at the book's end.

In another life, something like this would have been very pricey, and it would have been out of my price range. At Amazon, it's (at the time of this writing) under $20, a steal at any cost. So, if you're a long time fan of the manga and animated series or you're just discovering the awesomeness of Dragon Ball courtesy of the airings of Dragon Ball Z Kai on Nicktoons and The CW, check out this book.
A Toriyama-phile's Must Oct. 12 2014
By Jacob Ermete - Published on Amazon.com
As a kid who grew up on this stuff and derived much of his early artistic inspiration from Toriyama's art style, this book completed a certain part of my being. I love seeing all the colored illustrations. They give a dimension to Dragon Ball you can't entirely get from the black and white manga, and definitely can't get from the anime. There is something very folky about Toriyama's style that I can't get over, and each illustration is printed in great detail and quality material paper. I love seeing the changes in art style, and off shoot covers and sketches. It's a very behind the scenes type of book. I can't get tired of looking at it. A must for Toriyama fans in my opinion. Nostalgia hurts in the best ways.
It also includes an interview with the man himself at the end that really captures the humble and self-critical person he can be, which is a great insight to understanding the nature of his art and story telling.

Completely AMAZING... :) Jan. 10 2009
By angelus0901 - Published on Amazon.com
I received this book from my best friend for my birthday... It's amazing!! I'm completely satisfied with it!! Even better, I thought it was paperback... NO! It's hardcover!! It's great!! Akira Toriyama gave us something really great, a drawing from every saga... from the beginning until the end, and by that I mean the end of Dragon Ball Z. This book would be perfection if it had included drawings from Dragon Ball GT, but this is great too... If you're a true fan of this fantastic anime, I recommend you this book. Trust me, you'll enjoy it. :)
