A real generation-bridger Feb. 6 2006
By C. R. Lamdin - Published on
Format: Paperback
A wonderful, imaginative and entertaining story, set in the West Country of the UK. Beautifully written, the characters (particularly the older ones) speak in language that they really would use, which my grand-daughter found a huge entertainment in itself.

Trendy it isn't.

A wonderful read-aloud Sept. 8 2005
By Malenki - Published on
Format: Paperback
This made a wonderful read-aloud to my 4.5 year old son. The colorful pictures and fast-paced story were a perfect combination. Will definitely buy and put with our favorite early chapter books for him to read himself one day!
If you like Penelope Lively, this is a bit of a curiousity Sept. 9 2014

Format: Hardcover Verified Purchase
Personally, very much like this writer's adult books. This book is an okay but not great children's book. The condition was fair, but not excellent--retrieved from a library. It was not available for purchase in this country, though, so at least it was available from Great Britain.
