4.0 out of 5 stars Wish I'd read PHOENIX UNRISEN first..., Mar 17 2010
By 365andMe - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Dragon Unmasked (Mass Market Paperback)
Dr. Grace Armatading had no idea the kind of danger she was in until Adam Zolton, editor of New Orleans New Eyes, a publication that investigates the bizarre, shows up in her life. Again. She swore she'd never trust him again after his betrayal last time, but someone is killing off powerful mages. Adam discovers Grace could be the next target, only Grace has no idea how powerful she truly is. Grace will have to trust Adam in order to have a chance of coming out of this alive.

The beginning of this book had me feeling a bit disoriented. It wasn't until halfway through I realized this was the second book in a series. I highly recommend start with book one, PHOENIX UNRISEN. I wish I had. I might have been more emotionally invested in the story as well as the characters.

There is a lot of action in this paranormal romance, but the passion scenes take time to build. This I really appreciated. The reader knows Grace and Adam were attracted to each other, but Grace doesn't trust him. Kathleen Nance set up their relationship perfectly by allowing Grace time to overcome her issues with Adam enough to risk her heart again.

After reading this one, I want to go back to the first book with Natalie & Ram. I have a feeling I'll like this one even better than book two.

5.0 out of 5 stars super romantic urban fantasy, Mar 4 2010
By Harriet Klausner - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Dragon Unmasked (Mass Market Paperback)
New Orleans New Eyes (NONE) editor-publisher Adam Zolton seeks the Mage who destroyed his sister's mind. Obsessed he would do anything including sacrificing others to find and destroy this Dragon. However, instead of locating his prey, he finds a serial killer murdering mages; his assumption is the Dragon is the culprit.

Adam informs healer Dr. Grace Armatrading that her powerful mage Aunt Faith was murdered and she is next on the list as the killer wanted her relative's magical library. Grace has an undesirable past with Adam in which he dumped her to pursue his fixation; thus she distrusts him. However, suffering from recent blackouts that remind her of epilepsy, Grace has few other alternatives than to trust the man who hurt her especially since she also tries to prevent a devastating computer virus from taking affect.

The latest NONE romantic urban fantasy (see PHOENIX UNRISEN) is a terrific paranormal investigative thriller in which magic and the information age technology are on the verge of a war. The story line is fast-paced, driven by the lead couple and a psychopathic mage practitioner, and though over the top of sea level and below New Orleans is an entertaining one sitting action-packed tale.

Dragon Unmasked, is an outstanding novel of suspence that combines magic and science in ways only Kathleen Nance can achieve. Grace and Adam are a smart endearing couple and gaurantee an exciting tale of love that overcomes past troubles and new trials. I can't wait for Kathleen's next book.
