From Kirkus Reviews

An appealing blue creature, first introduced in 1990, displays his independent thinking and good humor in four episodes appropriate to the season. Dragon decides to decorate his tree where he finds it growing, without cutting it; he's proud of the candy wreath he makes, but it's too tasty to last long; he gives away the presents he's bought for himself to needier animals. Not exceptional, but genuinely warmhearted; the art, drawn with assurance and verve, is vibrantly colored. (Easy reader. 4-8) -- Copyright ©1991, Kirkus Associates, LP. 5.0 out of 5 stars Delightful dragon story Dec 9 2003
Format:Library Binding
This book contains four short stories about a young dragon and his adventures at Christmas time. In the first story, The Perfect Christmas Tree, dragon goes in hunt for a perfect Christmas tree, but when he finally finds it, he doesn't have the heart to cut it down, so he decorates it where it stands. In the second story, The Candy Wreath, dragon makes a wreath out of candy, and finds he can't control himself in the presence of so much sweetness, so he eats himself sick. In the third story, Mittens, dragon begins to clip his mittens to his coat sleeves so that he won't lose them, but he still ends up losing them. And in the final story, Merry Christmas, Dragon, dragon discovers for himself the joy of giving. The stories are quite amusing for young and old alike, and not at all scary. It's a great Christmas book, all in all. It contains about 850 words, and can easily be read at one sitting or in small chunks.

5.0 out of 5 stars Delightful easy reader July 4 1999
By A Customer
Format:Hardcover
Lovable, kind, and exuberantly childlike, Dragon celebrates Christmas in four self-contained stories presented as chapters. The delightful stories range in tone from the hilarious, such as when Dragon can't help but eat the chocolate candy wreath he's made as a decoration, to the heartwarming, as when he shares his food and clothes with those in greater need, and later "dream [s] he heard angels singing in the starry night" when those he has befriended sing him carols. Brightly colored, the illustrations are joyful and expressive. It's hard to imagine an easy reader getting much better than this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Forever a family favorite! Oct. 26 1999
Format:Paperback
This is the first and only Dragon book we've read. My son, who was 3 years old at the time, committed to memory the entire book and loved to "read" it to anyone who'd listen during the holiday season and beyond! We all just cracked up about Dragon's Candy Wreath! This book is a heck of a lot of fun and really captures the holiday spirit of giving, harming none and the temptations of over-indulgence. It's great for all ages -- but best if you can find a 3 year old to read it to...and have them read it back to you!
