I'm a contributor to this book, so I'm definitely biased!
But for what it's worth, Fleishman has done a great job gathering the work of so many illustrators and organizing it all into a well-organized format. It's very educational and inspirational to read how different artists approach line, colour, and texture, as well as how they tackle their assignments and the creative process in general.
I'd recommend this book to any artist, new or old. Beginning art students will benefit from the visual exercises at the ends of chapters, and more established illustrators will enjoy learning more about some familiar names in the business.

I love this book. I teach at the college level and this is so helpful. It covers a lot but you don't have to be daunted by that. I like focusing on one chapter and just ruminating on that for a bit. I've been inspired by the artists included and have showed their websites, as well as this book of course, to my class. Thank you thank you. If you are thinking about this book, skip the two other that cost less you were looking at (yes, I know you were looking at others...) and get this one. You won't regret it.
