This is one of the albums that Lightfoot, at his concerts, has referred to as the "3 best kept secrets in the music business! Dream Street Rose, Shadows, and Salute. All excellent. I was so excited to see these finally re-released on CD. I have every Lightfoot recording that I can get my hands on and these are 3 of the best, although there are many that I love. Every album has at least one "gem", but these 3 albums are loaded with good material!

My mom & dad have raised me on Mr. Lightfoot's music as well as folk and classic rock stuff! I know his stuff as well anything I have from today's stars. We can tell you that his last well received album was Shadows,not Dream Street Rose! My Dad told me that "Baby Step Back" hit #50 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart back in 1982. I have listened to both back to back on our CD player and they are both about equal. To all of the people shopping out there,get them both and get all of Gordon Lightfoot's work! It's worth your money. Bye-Bye!

I 've always liked this release for the following tracks: Ghosts of Cape Horn and Make Way for The Lady. The others are fine too with the sole clunker being the wretched The Auctioneer which is so out of place here. If I want to hear that nonsense, I'll go to a cattle auction. Originally a digital recording, it suffered from tape hiss which is odd for digital(the early days of)recording. The hiss is gone but the recording still doesn't sound right to my ears particularly the vocals. Suprisingly, this is a very short disc clocking in at a paltry 33.50. Another entire release could have easiliy fit on the remainder of the disc. I hate when labels cheat the consumer in that fashion. So be it, still worthwhile for some very good tracks. 10 tracks/full lyrics/33.50.
