It's been about 3 month we open and close quite a lot the door and still work as new.
The only thing is the installation. It take me more than the EASY 30 min and a couple of bad word but at least it seems well built.
So in the end if your inst is wall to wall it's perfect but if it's not then it take imagination and 2 hour apprx.
The colour blends in well with our home and it simply doesn't look cheap like some others we tried. With it being a sliding extension, there is no measuring to worry about. We tried a white metal gate that came in sections before, but it was a very awkward fit and not effective. This is the first and only gate I've found that works as advertised. It has been almost two years and this gate looks no worse for wear. It will be around for a long time.
One gripe: We retract it often when walking through (since it is quite extended to fill the gap) and over time the sliders have dug into the wood. There isn't an easy solution to this without putting some sort of plastic strip on the top. It does still retract, but it sometimes gets stuck and requires some finesse to retract it fully.
The first gate arrived damaged (from shipping), so Amazon sent a replacement out right away. Kudos for that.

This gate does the job, but is not easy to open and close. Thankfully, we used it at the top of the basement stairs which we don't use often.Published 22 months ago by flanny

It works great, the older kids can use it without help and the younger is safe. I should have bought this 3 grandchildren ago!Published on Oct. 17 2013 by Val Esau
