But not all highlights are cover tunes. Wright, along with songwriter Jesse Harris and Toshi Reagon, created the achingly beautiful "Hit the Ground," while Chocolate Genius (a.k.a. I'd never heard of Lizz Wright, but after reading rapturous reviews, I decided to give it a chance. It hasn't left my CD player since I first put it on.Her interpretations of classics and obscurities, as well beautiful original songs, are absolutely stunning. Her voice is indeed "one in a million". It's just as raputurous singing a blues-style arrangements or a simple stripped-down acoustic piece. I've recommended this CD to everyone I know. You will not regret getting this one!
