Great, dreamy music,

I always feel good when I find a very good recording that's relatively obscure. I guess this is because I feel the music is more personal to me and also because I get to be the one to turn others on to it. This relatively obscure CD is deserving of much wider recognition, as is the group. I learned of this CD because the 1st track 'Dream of Brazil' is the closing theme song for the radio show 'Sounds of Brazil', hosted each week by Scott Adams. I've listened to this show for years and I've always wanted to know what the theme song was and they finally offered it for sale on the show's website. Of course, I bought it immediately and it is now one of the prize CDs in my collection. The tune 'Dream of Brazil' is a wonderful, happy instrumental piece that I can listen to over and over and not get tired of. Just listening to it makes me want to go to Brazil! It sort of reminds me of some of Flora Purim's music. The 3 vocal tunes sung in Portuguese are nice also, but the one other tune on the CD that really struck me was 'Windswept'. On a recent vacation, I took this CD along and I must have listened to 'Windswept' at least 50 times. It is a beautiful romantic tune with a long and interesting chord progression. This song, as well as 'Dream of Brazil' is by Patricia King and she must have a very creative mind to think of a tune like this. She also sings the vocals for the English-language tunes and plays the piano. The other vocalist is Orlando Haddad, who composed and sings the Portuguese-language pieces. This group supposedly is based in Philadelphia, which is not too far from me, and I will be keeping my eyes peeled to see when they are performing at a place where I can see them. Needless to say, I highly recommend to this CD to people who like mellow, 'American-styled' Brazilian music.

This CD is not easy to find on the internet. Their music is just great. I have introduced this CD to a few friends of mine and they love it. Among them, my friend Meena in Philadelphia. She played at home and her little boy Tristan, now 5 years old, loved their music and he keeps asking his mom to bring MINAS to play at his next party! And, he won't give my CD back! So I had to buy another CD for myself. I guess MINAS is for all ages!Fabulous Brazilian band.

This CD is just as good as the first one! The soft sensual voices you hear will not only relax you but will take you away to that secluded place we all only dream about. This is a wonderful and worthwhile addition to your library.
