4 Star Prog-Metal, -1 star for sounding like Dream Theater, Nov 16 2008

It is hard to be a prog-metal band in the new millenium and not have some similarities to Dream Theater. DT so define the genre that such comparisons are inevitable. Nemesis (now called Age of Nemesis) sound like "Images & Words" / "Awake" era DT. They are a little more guitar driven than the guitar / keyboard / drum dominance of DT. However, the music is compositionally similar to early 90's DT. That can be a good thing if you like that era of DT where the music had a more atmospheric sound with less reliance on technical wankery.
Still, the execution is very well done and the music is quite catchy. Nemesis is definitely more melodic than DT, even if the vocals are a bit more nasal and range limited. However, unlike many prog-metal bands, the mixing and production is dead on perfect. There is no harshness anywhere, just a warm, well balanced sound. "Eden?" is a recommendable album to any fan of early 90's DT. I'd give it 4 stars for quality, but deduct a point for sounding too similar to Dream Theater.
