Product Description

From Amazon.com

This conflicted teen comedy can't decide what it wants to be. Is Drive Me Crazy a mainstream piffle about a popular girl who turns her grungy next-door neighbor into a dream date? Or is it a sneaky critique of high school conformity? Melissa Joan Hart (TV's Sabrina, the Teenage Witch) is angling to get asked to an upcoming dance by a basketball star, but when her plans go awry, she turns to a childhood friend (Adrian Grenier from The Adventures of Sebastian Cole) in the hopes of avoiding total humiliation. Grenier wants to win back his recently lost girlfriend, so he agrees to Hart's total makeover plan to induce jealousy. Naturally, the scam turns into something sparky. Teen flicks always make things too glossy and upscale, but Drive Me Crazy somehow fumbles its design and ends up looking false and square. The movie initially presents Grenier's transformation as unqualified good, with no sense that anything he was doing before--political protests, alternative music, rebellious pranks--had any value. But as the plot unfolds, a few barbed twists undercut the good cheer, sneakily commenting on school spirit and popularity. These themes wrestle uncomfortably with the movie's production values, resulting in a curiously provocative jumble. This confusion is probably why the movie was only a modest success in theaters, but it's actually what makes Drive Me Crazy worth looking at now. --Bret Fetzer

3.0 out of 5 stars A Harmless Comedy, Dec 4 2003
This review is from: Drive Me Crazy (Widescreen) (DVD)
Hart seems to go to a highschool thats like ridiculously clean, the weather is awesome and even the geeks and spazzes are kinda cool. This movie won't hurt your brain cells, but it won't challenge them either. As teen romances go its ok. Melissa Joan Hart won't win any oscars for her riveting performance but she is the glue that holds this movie together.

4.0 out of 5 stars enjoyable to watch, Jun 16 2003

This review is from: Drive Me Crazy (Widescreen) (DVD)
This was a pretty good movie that had some meaning behind it- was pretty accurate with the cliches in high school and showed both sides of the outkast and the popular girls life. He wasnt really an outkast but rebellious and it did accuratly portray the groups and how they compared them with sheep and it was pretty funny. The movie wasnt brilliant- it is somewhat forgetable but the story was ok to watch. Melissa John Heart plays a preppy girl who gives a makeover to the school's rebellious guy to transform him into a preppy kid to make his ex girlfriend and her ex boyfriend jealous.( the guy was cute to begin with but they just made him into a prep)- Then they end up together at the end and thats about it. Like i said its enjoyable to watch but forgetable- Only reason i gave it 4 stars is because it is accurate portrayal of some cliches in high school and how they act. I would rent it before you decide to buy it unless you see it for a cheap price.

4.0 out of 5 stars It's O.K., May 23 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Drive Me Crazy (Widescreen) (DVD)
I went to watch this movie just because Britney was singing the theme, and I've watched Sabrina a couple of times, the movie is good when you watch it for the first time, but after that it becames boring for a simple story and a bad chemistry between Hart and Geiner, the reason to see this is for Melissa, that's it.
