4.0 out of 5 stars Compelling Psychodrama Jan 8 2011
By rachel
Durham County has moody visuals, an interesting premise and realistic characters that make mistakes. Hugh Dillon gives a compelling performance as Mike Sweeney, a flawed husband, father and police detective. Another stand out performance is by Laurence Leboeuf who plays his daughter, Sadie, a curious and intelligent teen negotiating the complexities of family dynamics and attending a new school. The line between the heroes and the villains is murky, and it may in the end depend on circumstance and opportunity. The storylines become less plausible in Season Two but remain entertaining. This is a sophisticated Canadian psychodrama about the evil and violence hidden in a small community that protects its own.
