Unfortunately I found Seeverens'comments slightly confusing and I probably would have been better off watching video re-runs of the great Cruyff /Krull, Neskins era.
Nevertheless, as a beginners guide to the art of " Total Football" this guide provides a basic understanding of the famous 4-3-3 formation and in particular the isolation of the Number 10 position.
The diagrams and illustrations are clear and numerous, but one does get the feeling that this is an accompanying guide to a video.
The author's comments on the Ajax system, and in particular the emphasis placed on continuity within the structure, are particularly insightful, and perhaps serve as a prelude for the author's superior effort " The Coaching Philosophies of the Louis Van Haal and other Ajax Coaches ".
There is little doubt that the author knows his subject well, but this guide unfortunately is not his best demonstration of this.
Beginners would be advised to buy it, and when finished with it, buy the aforementioned sequel.
