I felt the book was a bit misleading by the cover with all those foods depicted. This is a short board book with SIX pages showing a corn cob, an apple, an orange, a bunch of green grapes, a full page spread of a watermelon, a strawberry, a pretzel, a carrot, and a pod of peas. Our 16 m/o has a rapidly expanding vocabulary and we like to talk to her about her food. I bought the book based on the cover (as there were no reviews at the time), and expected bread, egg, tomato, eggplant, and other foods pictured. I'd excuse this thinking that more books in the "Eat" series would follow, but none of the sets of pictures were completely done in this book (it was a mix of all the pictured sets). I was SO hoping for the eggplant (which is part of a four square set on the back but NEVER shown IN the book. What the heck? I guess I shouldn't "read a book by its cover," but that's all I had to go off of and I do not think it's too much to ask that an INFANT'S book have clear intentions.
All that being said, the book has bright colours, pages dedicated to one food and a good, clean feel to it. Very easy for my daughter to point out foods and for us to ask questions about colours, shapes, and details. Wish it was longer and I wish they sold the Dwell Studio books in ONE SET!!
