The iPhone is an amazing tool. The number of clever applications that use location services enable the device to work its magic, and the personal hotspot saves owners the expense of a second 3g plan for the iPad. All these features suck an enormous amount of power; the device doubles as a pocket warmer when in full use.This tool turns your briefcase or purse into a power supply, alleviating energy anxiety. The only improvement I can think of is more ports, so one can charge multiple iDevices simultaneously.

In case you do not know, you cannot use an iPhone/iPod battery charger, or even an iPhone AC/USB plug with an iPad. The iPhone draws 1 amp and the iPod draws 2.1 amps. Indeed, when I plugged my iPad into the AC using my iPhone plug it drained the battery!This battery charger does what it says, but nowhere nearly as good as advertised. 1. Although advertised for the iPad the outlet is only 2.0 amps. The iPad draws 2.1, and this small amount reduces the efficiency of the charger. 2. Only one of the outlets is designed for the iPad. (It doesn't tell you this in the description!). However, it is marked with an "i". This outlet recognizes an Apple device, and goes into quick charge mode. The other outlet, slowly charges the iPad. 3. When I run my favourite "battery charging app", Battery Magic, it seems that this additional load prevents the charger from working. Indeed, at one point the charger would appear to reach 79.9% and then return to 70%. In fact, it wasn't charging at all. 4. Finally, it claims to put out 10,000 mAh. I doubt this very much. I charged up an iPad 3 (with 70% battery life) and an iPad 2 (with 65% battery life) and the charger had less than half of its charge left. I suspect that on a plane trip, you couldn't recharge the iPad twice from a totally drained state. Having said that, it is probably better than any of the many 5,000 mAh products on offer.
