Product Description

From Amazon.com

LTJ Bukem’s Earth 6 isn’t really a new Bukem record, since the series exists to showcase up-and-coming acts on his Good Looking Records label. But the man and the label are essentially synonymous after a career spent putting ego and fame aside in favor of an overall sound. His name may fail to ring bells like a Digweed or an Oakenfold, but Bukem long ago claimed his spot in dance music’s hall of fame by inventing and expanding the ambient alchemy of breakbeats and jungle. Stellar examples of that sound heard on Earth 6 include the swanky breaks on Marcel’s "Solitudo 3" and "Jealous," as well as hypnotic MC work on ESP and Substance’s "Run The Gauntlet." Calmer rhythms rule here, as opposed to the hyper-speed jungle beats found on other Good Looking releases, but fans of airy ambience and downtempo will be happily anesthetized by Bukem’s melodious prescriptions. –Matthew Cooke

LTJ BUKEM to me is a very smart man , he is able to enter different type of musical styles , master them , produce them , and market them .

In this EARHT 6 cd we have : SUBSTANCE ( R&B dance with loud and clear vocals ), RUN THE GAUNTLET ( "cant go in my water and not get wet" ) hard core rap with statement beats , OUTER MIND ( a nice D&B with a soothing sax and flut .

so for those of you who are at this moment lost in what will be called BUKEMS world please dont misjudge and try to catch up to what could be called a revolutionary musical moovement .

1.0 out of 5 stars Not one of his better CDs, Oct 3 2003
This review is from: Earth 6 (Audio CD)
I admit I haven't bought any of Bukems CDs since Progession Session Vol 5, but I was quite disappointed to find out that this CD is not even Jungle. This CD is more of an ecletic mix of chill out breaks at about 120 BPMs (certainly not the 170 you expect to hear on a jungle CD). This CD is more like jazzy lounge music. It's not a terrible CD, just not at all what I expected.

I own a couple LTJ Bukem cd's so bought this one on name alone. Granted this isn't a collection of HIS songs but the styles on this album are very similar to his stuff and he seems to have exquisite taste. So it's a good cd overall, but just nothing to get terribly excited about - he's done better before. Still, it's good background/chillout/late night listening music. Overall though, 3 stars which is still better than most "electronica" cds out there.
Check out Journey Inward if you're interested in a good preview of his work...
