Say goodbye to dry presentations, grueling formulas, and abstract theories that would put Einstein to sleep -- now there's an easier way to master the disciplines you really need to know.

McGraw-Hill's Demystified Series teaches complex subjects in a unique, easy-to-absorb manner, and is perfect for users without formal training or unlimited time. They're also the most time-efficient, interestingly written "brush-ups" you can find.

Organized as self-teaching guides, they come complete with key points, background information, questions at the end of each chapter, and even final exams. You'll be able to learn more in less time, evaluate your areas of strength and weakness and reinforce your knowledge and confidence.

Earth Science has never been easier to understand. Coverage includes: rocks and minerals, strata, fossils, volcanos, earthquakes, glaciers, wind and erosion, oceans, type of rock, atmosphere, carbon and calcium, the hydrologic cycle, and more.

THE ROAD LESS ROCKY TO EARTH SCIENCE MASTERY

Now anyone with an interest in earth science can master it -- without formal training, unlimited time, or a genius IQ. In Earth Science Demystified, scientist and writer Linda Williams provides an effective, anxiety-soothing, and painless way to learn or review earth science fundamentals. With Earth Science Demystified, you master the subject one step at a time—at your own speed. This unique self-teaching guide offers quizzes at the end of each chapter and section to pinpoint weaknesses, and a 100-question final exam to reinforce the knowledge gained from reading the entire book.

Here's everything you need to:
* Understand the geological history of the Earth
* Recognize different types of rock and learn how they were formed
* Find out how geologists date the Earth and fossils
* Learn what causes earthquakes, volcanoes, tsunamis, tornadoes, and hurricanes
* Discover how hot spots, deep ocean ridges, and plate tectonics shape the oceans and land masses
* Take a "final exam" and grade it yourself!

Simple enough for beginners but substantial enough for advanced students, Earth Science Demystified is your direct route to learning or brushing up on this fascinating subject.

This review is from: Earth Science Demystified (Paperback)
This book is a great book for beginners. I am trying to learn about Earth Science and this book is great! I like that I can quiz myself and, in needed, review what I need to work on. The best part of all: I can learn at my own pace! The only thing is there is is misprint in this book. It says that Mount St. Helens in in Oregon. Nope. It's in Washington State! OOPS! But none-the-less, a great book! I have also read other books in this series. Alternitave Energy, Enviromental Science, & Meterology. All are excellent! Great for self-study!

4.0 out of 5 stars A Great Way to Explore Science, Sep 20 2004
By T. R. Gregg - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Earth Science Demystified (Paperback)
This is a great book for an adult to get reacquainted with science. The writing is first-rate and easy to understand. Science has changed a lot since I was in school and I feel a lot more current about the world in which I live and how it functions thanks to this book. This book is a must-have for anyone, young or old, who isn't an expert in science but values or has a need to know. Good writing, helpful sidebars, and I passed most of the tests! Nice work, Dr. Williams.
