Product Description

This guide is for everyone interested in their ancestors whose research has not yet begun, or is in its early stages. It offers exactly what it says on the cover. David Annal introduces all the relevant sources of information in easy steps and most logical sequence, focusing on what you really need to know. The chapters are interwoven with practical features on issues that could crop up during research: for example different spellings of your ancestor's surname.

Written with humour and minimum fuss, this is the most accessible guide on the market - and at a size and price to suit any pocket.

About the Author

David Annal was a professional genealogical researcher until he joined the Family Records Centre in 1998. He is currently the FRC's development manager. He is on the editorial board of The National Archives' Ancestors magazine, and has written widely on family history.

5.0 out of 5 stars How to conduct research for such instruments, and the pros and cons of their contents., Nov 7 2006
By Midwest Book Review - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Wills and Other Probate Records: A Practical Guide to Researching Your Ancestor's Last Documents (Paperback)
Karen Grannum and Nigel Taylor's WILLS AND OTHER PROBATE RECORDS provides insights from the experts at the National Archives, and while this holds a British focus, many researchers from other countries will find it invaluable. Those whose ancestors have roots in the UK receive chapters on how to conduct research for such instruments, and the pros and cons of their contents.
