Book Description

April 30 2012 Living with the Dead (Book 3)
Sarah and David have survived the zombie apocalypse. They stood side by side and fought mad scientists, the undead, and even bionic monsters . . . until the unthinkable happened. A zombie bite. But not even that could stop them.

Now, with a possible cure in hand, they're headed east, looking for a safe zone behind the rumored "Wall." They're feeling pretty optimistic. That is, until Dave stops sleeping and starts lifting huge objects.

Eat. Slay. Love. Because they haven't got a prayer.

Following along while Sarah and David fight for survival (and to save their marriage) in the middle of the zombie apocalypse makes this story a definite must read! Witty, entertaining and suspenseful.

4.0 out of 5 stars More fun with David and Sarah, and zombies!! July 5 2011
By MyBookishWays - Published on
Format:Mass Market Paperback
In Eat Slay Love we rejoin my favorite post zombie apocalypse married couple, Sarah and David, as they attempt to get to the rumored "Wall" in the east, hoping to find safety from the society that's let them down. I mean, zombies are the ultimate letdown, right? Of course, with these two, you know it's not gonna be smooth sailing, and the seas get pretty rough during this outing. See, there was an incident in the last novel that might have changed David a bit, and Sarah is noticing more and more, well, odd things about him. Sarah is also hoping she'll be reunited with her mom and dad, even though the chances of that are slim. All that aside, they've got some precious cargo with them that could change the face of the world forever. Add to the mix a stalkerazzi journalist that may have her own secret agenda, an aging rockstar that seems to have lost his band, and his wits, to the zombies, a camp full of people that aren't about to let strangers into the mix (think Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome here), and of course all the zombie killin' action you can handle, and you've got a read that you won't want to put down!
I adore this series, and it just keeps getting better and better. Sarah narrates with her trademark snark, and even though you'll giggle, you'll cringe too, because Ms. Petersen lets the dark humor fly, and the story is tempered with moments of levity that will definitely bring you down to earth. This kind of writing is hard to do, weaving humor into admittedly horrid situations, but the author manages with a sure hand and never lets the pacing falter. There are a few twists in this one that left me smiling and the ending leaves off with plenty of material for lots more fun with this kick-ass couple. Do they find the "wall"? Does Sarah reunite with her family? And just what is wrong with David? You'll get your questions answered in this one, I promise, and trust me, you won't want to put it down!

4.0 out of 5 stars Another great addition to this series! June 28 2011

EAY SLAY LOVE, by Jesse Petersen, is the continuation of the Living with the Dead series following Sarah and David's journey to the "Wall" to (hopefully) get the only known zombie-cure to government scientists to end the zombie/human war. But as usual nothing is easy for this once-almost-divorced couple, they are faced with cults, David's strange new bitten-related behaviors, teaming up with a TMZ-like stalkerazzi, a druggie rockstar...and of course BRAAAAIIN eating zombies.

I have been dying to read this next installment of one of my favorite horror series's, and I have to say I was very pleased!! My favorite still-together (why are there not more of those in fiction?) couple is back with another huge adventure on their hands. I love the relationship between Sarah and David. They truly are my hero couple and I always get nervous when things (zombies, other cute men/women, zombie escape routes involving splitting up) threaten to tear them apart.

I liked how Petersen developed the cure senario with David. He was cured but subtle differences in his behavior suggested he became some sort of zombie/super human hybrid. And Sarah found tooth and nail to keep her once nerd, now buff husband by her side.

The other main characters, Nicole and McCray were annoying at first (probably because I thought they were going to get Sarah and David killed) but they grew on me as the book wore on. A big theme in this book was secrets. Sarah kept the cure a secret, and as I slowly learned more about Nicole and McCray I knew that all kept secrets would blow up in the characters faces at some point.

One thing (of many) that I love about this series is that there are multiple layers to each book. The overall one being to survive, but I love how Petersen makes little adventures and journeys (physically and mentally) for her characters. It really makes this series enjoyable to read. Definitely pick this one up!

5.0 out of 5 stars It's a keeper Feb. 4 2012

Most books I delete as soon as I finish reading but not Jesse Petersens zombie series. I keep them so I can revisit this zombie infested world.
I love the characters. The story is great, it is funny, full of zombie slaying action and has a little romance. Every Zombie apocalypse needs a little romance!
Eat Slay Love is book 3. Book 1 and 2 are great but so far 3 is the best.

5.0 out of 5 stars Roller-coaster ride of Zombie AWESOME! June 28 2011
By The Bookish Brunette - Published on
Format:Mass Market Paperback
In Flip This Zombie David and Sarah fight off bionic zombies created by the evil Dr. Kevin who regardless of his reasoning behind creating these 'super' zombies also managed to invent a cure (or vaccine... maybe) for the zombie infection!

Since the Zombie Apocalypse went down, there have been rumors about the Midwest Wall (WIN... that means I'm safe!!!) Sarah and David are slowly making their way toward the Wall, with the zombie cure- hoping that it actually exists!

In route to the Wall, they happen across Nicole Nessing (a TV star from before) running from a pack of zombies. After checking to make sure she hadn't been bitten, Sarah doesn't like the way Dave is practically DROOLING all over her and contemplates throwing her back... Only for a minute though.

They get BACK on the road, heavy one blonde, pre-zombie apocalypse TV star and they are immediately bombarded by trucks, inhabited by freaks racing toward them demanding they come to their "camp", because "This here road is our territory." type stuff. They have no choice...

"Unfortunately, I felt like we were lambs going to a slaughter, not about to frolic in a field or something." -Sarah

The leader of this 'town' (ahem... cult) decided as punishment for trespassing on their road- Dave has to go into 'The Pit' know an in-ground freaking swimming pool filled will 30 zombies! Sarah and Nicole get to go free in order to spread the word to everyone else NOT TO COME NEAR THEIR TOWN. Dude- duh! Make a freaking sign you psycho!

"All's fair in love and zombies." -Sarah

Okay... so now this is the tricky part. Too many details/not enough... spoilers... UGH! Here we go! I'm opting for vagueness, because I HATE to spoil this book! It was SO AMAZING!

Does Dave make it through the Zombie Pit of Death??? I'll NEVER tell... But, Sarah finally tells Nicole about the cure that she's got hiding under her shirt... just in case and they pick up ANOTHER stow away ex-rockstar guy!

They make it to the famous Midwest Wall, which is actually a HUGE fence, surrounded by heavily armed guards, topped with razor sharp wire and oh- surrounded by a horde of zombies bigger than they've ever seen before. I know.

This book is a ROLLER-COASTER ride of crazy zombie AWESOME. Seriously, I was constantly GASPING for breathe, doing the whole "Oh my god! Oh my God! Oh my God!" thing the ENTIRE time. I'm telling you- I love this series more and more with each and every book!
3.0 out of 5 stars Not my favorite in the series March 13 2014

This book was not my favorite in the series, but it was still well written. I wasn't a huge fan of the second one either. The first is definitely my favorite and it seems to be slipping from there.
